Nicely straddling tradition and modernity. Meaty and floral and clean as a whistle.

Oh my. The nose on Domaine Giraud's Prémices Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2011 is unapologetically lush and even downright sensual with layers of blackberry reduction sauce, smoky plums, mesquite, Tahitian vanilla bean, and anise. It's equally immersive and voluptuous on the palate, layers of black fruit are beautifully delineated against a structure that suggests good aging potential, balanced acidity along with a dash of minerality, and a very pleasant spice and dried herb note on the finish. 15.0% ABV

100% Grenache. Medium ruby color, medium aromas of bright red fruit, very elegant with a sweet strawberry impression. Very good balance. Medium tannin, well-balanced alcohol and fruit. 14%abv

Black fruit, savory spice and stony minerality. Zippy acid too, well done!

100% Grenache. Soft and supple. Blackberries and blood orange. Slight minerality and cured meats. Nice and smooth. Not tons of complexity.

Nice but somewhat reserved. 1hr+ decant. Medium cherry color with burnt edges. Extremely spicy. Classic CDP flavors. Medium minus depth and finish. Not bad for the price and style.

Dark fruits, black berry and cherry, immediately grab your attention with a hint of white pepper spice as a teaser....nice finish...showed much better after first couple of hours.
