Very few accessible nebbiolos are as consistently magical to me as examples from Valle d’Aosta and Alto Piemonte. This local clone, Picotendro, shows super alpine and earthy here, with a clarity of red fruit that ties the palate together. Significantly more restrained than its southern neighbors. For <$25 just simply gorgeous.

Light hearted Nebbiolo from Vallee D’Aosta... cherry and red fruit up front and a light body, delicate tannins and a pleasant subtle bitter finish

Lively, perfumed and fantastic. I love this style of Nebbiolo.

Devloped complexity over 2 hours. Fresh nose with very good intensity and medium complexity. The palate was fun. Slight tingle on the front and mid palate. Spice, red and black fruit, roses, dried orange. Med + acid and tannin. Nice and lengthy finish. 1-3 years. #lakiuva #valledaosta #nebbiolo #pinotnoir #ctbucklinwine

A quintessential Piedmontese wine from the Nebbiolo grape. Big, smooth, earthy and well balanced wine punching well above its price point. Perfect with a salad, sausage and pasta. Cheers from the north 🍷🇨🇦

2010. Still an alarming sense of freshness; as though it hasn't budged on some level. A bit more meaty and sweaty, same smoked paprika. Black truffle, bitter orange. Amazing how long these co-op wines can last; but then, I guess that's (mostly) Nebbiolo for you. I consumed just over 2 cases over the years of this. Good run. At first it appeared to have a bitter finish; but without buttery creamy mushroom pappardelle that disappeared so obviously I paired it wrong. Probably best with thinly sliced charcuterie appetizers.

Enjoyable slightly funky but lacking a little grip. Almost too approachable

Mountain Nebbiolo! Raspberries, tart cherries, leather and truffle. Great tension.

Not sure how typical it is, but charming nonetheless. Bright red piquant berry flavors make for a great charcuterie partner.
