Vintage 2018 | beautiful minimalistic label. Cherries, mushrooms, happy autumn forrest. Tough tannic in taste. Infanticide.

60/40 Carignan/Grenache...Opened as midweek foil for Filets and Bakers. Showing little sign of age... vibrant dark berry notes with noticeable ABV... bit more “modern” and fruit/forward than expected. Recall buying two of these at 50% discount. Probably at $15-20 a far price...but tasted fully “Parkerized”. Little if any sense of terroir or connection with place.

Dry. Young. Fruit forward. Wow. Plenty of time on this. The Carignane holds this together. Very high QPR.

I'll come out with it: I love the Roussillon! This place has so much potential. Nine years old, this wine is so vibrant, with a nose of berries and licorice and earth and turpentine. There's a touch of steeliness that fortunately doesn't carry through to the palate, which is dominated by cherries and anise and tart acids. I love this stuff, and this area is only going to get better.
