Transparent red, it's a true Sangiovese in the end (with some Merlot and Ciliegiolo grapes). It's the basic wine here at Erik Banti, and as usual speaks by itself about the overall quality of this producer. I liked it very much.

Morellino di Scansano DOCG 2012, 13.5%. Aged in steel tanks for 12 months, and short time in the bottle. Bright ruby red color, with scents of red berries and violets. Dry, sapid, slightly tannic, well balanced. A very traditional Morellino.

Nice roundness. Lasts okay in the mouth. Tobacco, vanilla bean, chocolate, some faint vegetable strains. Tannins are soft by now. Altogether pleasant but nothing stand out

Banti has a cult following for a reason; this wine is great (and under $20). Sangiovese/merlot blend. 91-92
