A. It disappointed in this one. A bit like stewed fruit. Maybe I should have been more (or less?) patient.

Amazing stuff. New-world fruit and old-world restraint and earth.

Hawkes has been growing for wineries like Silver Oak for years. Stone is their fantastic Chalk Hill Single Vineyard that has wonderful black cherry mingled with flint, firm acidity, and lingering subtle tannins.

Very strong but not very good. Strong and overwhelming attack followed by an acidic finish. No subtlety here. Not worth its high price.

This one has evolved very well and exceeded my expectations. Rich tannins and well integrated oak complement the juicy cherry and berry flavored palate. Chocolate and tobacco round out a great finish.

Dark black cherry and plum fruits with aromatic cedar initially. Tannins have smoothed but still a course wine. Will let the other one sit for at least 2 more years.

This is getting into its prime. Nice oak aromatics and good tannins which have softened.
