Deep garnet color with thick legs. Subdued aromas of cassis, wet earth, tobacco, vanilla, and violets. A dusty nose, but elegant at the same time. Soft, integrated tannins. Still quite restrained in the mouth, and might need additional aeration and time to open up. Robust maraschino cherry, cocoa, and other red fruits. Voluptuous mouthfeel, medium + tannins, medium + body, longer finish. Impressive wine and exemplary of what can come from Fronsac! Drinking very well now but can certainly spend some more time on its side.

Now after 2 hours, it's become darker to the eye, nose, and palate. Opaque, almost pitch black. Milk chocolate and smoke on the nose. Some sweetness and less acidity on the palate. Some grippy tannin left. Plummy finnish. A good deal for €18 in 2015. 50+3+12+17+8=90

Friday nights wine comes from the right bank of Bordeaux - Canon Fronsac. The 2010 Chateau Moulin Haut Laroque 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec. The Herve family first started making wine back in 1890 and continue to today. A great track record and delivering a well valued Bordeaux.
The nose is very expressive with dark fruits of black plum, blackberry, black currant, licorice, clove, coffee beans and tar.
Upon first sip black cherries jump out at you full force, with blueberries, a smooth coating of creme de cassis and dried oregano.
There is a nice full bodied mouth feel with medium + acidity and medium sandy tannins.
For the price this is a very nice and serviceable Bordeaux.

2001. 1h decant. Awesome plum, blackberry, cedar, cigar box, soy and balsamic, currants and crushed stones. Good lively acidity with good tannins. Good place now, drink up before this heads for the geriatric ward and limps into old age. big time value play.

Juicy, modern, still very primary, great tannines. But... lacking panache, intellect, and nerve. Very tasty but playing safe, and not very Bdx-like. 89/100
