Viticoltori In Avio

Viticoltori Acquesi

Asti Moscato

This wine has bubbles galore, for a minute or so. A huge, white, frothy head pours up and hangs around a bit before dissipating. The nose is a beauty, full of ripe peaches, apples, pears and nectarines. The palate is just as sweet, maybe sweeter. It's not exactly a dessert wine, but it would certainly do in a pinch. The pairing with dessert is a natural, as is its more reserved role with Asian food or sushi. — 4 months ago

Cantina Viticoltori del Monferrato

Iuli La Rina Barbera

This wine is 100% Slarina, not Barbera. Slarina is an ancient varietal that was grown in Monferato but then dropped out of style because of how finicky it is to grow. At 10.5% this wine blew me away. Carried its terroir with grace, undeniably a Piedmontese wine but with incredible drink ability. Bright acidity that plays with the late gripping tannins create perfect tension on the palate and the nose transformed elegantly like any good Nebbiolo. A gem I would have never found without the team at Elena in Montreal and Ryan Gray, Owner/wine director there. — 6 years ago

Yes yes yes. At Haugen with cheese fondue and family on hol in London means I'm bias, but genuinely silky and smooth, ripe and rich, soft dark red fruits. Me likey. — 2 years ago

Viticoltori Acquesi

Brachetto d'Acqui

This wine colors up in the beautiful garnet red for which Brachetto is famous, and it has a layer of fine, light violet bubbles atop it, which are quite long lasting. The nose is rich with cherries, strawberries, red currant, flowers and an earthy element - an absolutely wonderful collection of aromas. The palate is sweet with a cherry pie flavor and baking spices, all rolled into a candy treat. The acidity is very nice. While the winery calls this a dessert wine - it is, really - it also pairs nicely with dessert favorites like anisette cookies, chocolates or apricot tarts. — 2 years ago

Roscato Prosecco Glera

What even is this madness?! Like Cab Sauv & Moscato D'Asti had a tryst in northern Italy and out popped this sweet, fruity, slightly sparkly deliciousness. Wow. — 4 years ago

Tommasi

Poggio al Tufo Rompicollo Toscana Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Tommasi Viticoltori is a family viticultural company founded in 1902 and located in Pedemonte village in the heart of Valpolicella Classico region. A blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon from a single-vineyard site called Rompicollo, which benefits from a Southern exposure. Dark Ruby with aromas of berry fruit. The palate shows cherry and blackberry with sweet herb spice, slight notes of raisins on soft tannins. The finish is medium with an earthy mineral taste. Tremendous value.
