Alon Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

This wine has an indigo color in the glass. The nose is full of dark fruit, with blackberry, plum and black currant coming into play. Notes of cigars, leather, white pepper and funky earth make me think the Syrah plays a much larger part than its percentage indicates. The palate has all the black fruit and some ripe, red cherries in addition. The acidity has some zip to it and the tannins are firm enough for brisket. The finish isn’t terribly long, but it holds the fruit flavors for a delicious few minutes. — 20 days ago

Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

The Appellation Cab-Shiraz is a dark wine with a fragrant nose. Blackberries, blackcurrants and plums stand right out front, with a nice layer of oak spice draped over them. Notes of clove, cinnamon, coffee, chocolate and vanilla all appear in the aroma profile. On the palate, it’s a show of dark fruit and sweet oak. The tannins are firm and ready to help with a brisket or roast chicken. — 2 years ago

Vin Hors Series Mythos Mount Meron Merlot Petite Sirah 2014

Time for #MerlotThursday. Here is a tasty one from Israel.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish/ brick rim.

Pretty nose of blueberries, black currants, plums, sweet cherries, wood, licorice, spices, vanilla, earth, light vegetables, milk chocolates, black pepper and tobacco.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet cherries, cedar, leather, earth, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine tannins and tangy cranberries.

This Israeli Petite Syrah /Merlot blend is very enjoyable now. Spicy and elegant with lots of fruits. Showing nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.

This five year old is drinking very nicely now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

Good right out of the bottle and gets more complexity as it opens up (30 minutes). Right out of the bottle, it reminds me of an elegant Napa Bordeaux blend. After two hours in a decanter, it changes somewhat, and it feels more like a right Bank Bordeaux.

A very interesting wine, and nice as a sipping wine to enjoy with friends and talk about.

This series is not produced every year. This is bottle number 50 out of 2,500 produced.

Good by itself or with food. I paired it with a triple cream Brie cheese, and crackers.

A blend of Merlot, Petite Syrah and Cabernet Franc. Aged for 24 months in New French Oak barrels. Kosher and delicious.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Wow, a 92 for you is like a 98 for most other people. Have to try!

Viognier 2018

KD
8.9

Light gold (light for a viognier) with very fragrant notes of apricots, juicy nectarines, peaches and a little bit of white flowers on the nose. Medium light mouthfeel, lighter than expected, with medium high acidity that mellows quickly and leaves place to apricots, peaches, lemon and a subtle touch of honey and some salinity in the medium long finish. Not a typical viognier, but quite enjoyable! — 2 years ago

Upper Galilee Sauvignon Blanc 2018

second bottle for me from hyped boutique shvo vineyard.
non kosher and sustainable, supposedly.

12.5% ABV

pale green 👀

pineapple and hinted flint👃

medium minus body.
medium minus acidity.

tropics and lemon with biterness on the side and some hinted funk 👄

light 🎯 with some juicy feeling.

can't say i was amazed but well done with firm balanced structure.

great vfm (75 nis).

had it all day long while vacationing in a hotel with the family.
as the time passed bitterness was felt more and funkness became dryness.

not my fave style sauvignon blanc but still very good.
hope to try the shvo chenin soon.
