The Teeling Whiskey Co

Michter's

Small Batch Sour Mash Whiskey 1753

Applewood, poached pear, maple syrup and pecans with black lime, ginger lemon-honey, orange bitters, rosemary, baked sweet potatoes oozing créme fraîche, brown sugar and caramel. It’s a noseful! Hot, herbaceous mouthful on the coat. Warm maduro-caramel turns noir in the slanted chiaroscuros of toffee and brittle, respectively. Big lemon citrus with orange zest, banana bread, sage, allspice, mace, cedar, pipe tobacco puff, black raisin, with a svelte acid streak running the length of a generous satin mouthfeel. Impossible value here. Complex notes from the mash make this sparkle with edgy notes of bottled lightning. #Michters #Michterssmallbatch #Michterssmallbatchsourmash #Michterssourmash #whiskey #Anericanwhiskey #KYwhiskey #ky #fermentedmash #upcycledmash #mash #louisvilleky #Michtersdistillery — a month ago

Hard Chard Chardonnay

This was definitely aged in whiskey barrels. Nice to have with a meal or just kicking back and relaxing. I had my third bottle tonight so thought I would update my post from several months ago. — a month ago

Garrison Brothers

Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey

I’ve enjoyed Garrison Brothers’ Bourbon for many years now, and have gone through more than my fair share of bottles. Now, at long last, I’ve decided to indulge once more and get another bottle so I can make my all-time favorite Old Fashioned (called the “Hye Fashioned,” which is served at Four Seasons Austin’s lobby bar/lounge, Live Oak). Today was my first attempt at re-creating this sensational libation at home, and it was a hit 🔥 It consists of Garrison Brothers Bourbon, Remy Martin VSOP, Demerara simple syrup, Angostura bitters, orange peel, and Luxardo cherries. The Garrison Brothers Bourbon provides an integrally raw, firm backbone to the otherwise sweet nature of this luxurious iteration of a timeless classic 🥃 — a month ago

Glendalough

Premium Irish Poitin 1849

Nice little concoction when you’re out of gin & tonic
Distillery notes,

Claimed to be the world's oldest distilled drink - Poitín is the father of Irish whiskey (AKA - moonshine as we'd call it in the USA). First made by Irish monks in the 6th century in monastaries like Glendalough it was known as Uisce beatha or aqua vitae in Latin - the water of life. Today Glendalough's Poitín is triple distilled in a traditional copper pot-still using malted barley and pure spring water. It has a slightly floral nose with pretty and heady fruit tones. The taste is shockingly smooth and mellow given the 55%. Again a surprisingly fruity essence.

Old Weller Antique Original 107 Brand Wheated Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Peach cobbler, caramel-apple, baked pear tartlet, pine nettle, sweet corn, dried red cherry, cedar-on-grill, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, chilies, generous oak that includes acorns, crisp vanilla cookie make the nose. Hot initially, with oregano oil, cinnamon and tobacco. Revisit yields subtleties, including lemon oil, grapefruit pith, orange peel, arabica, eucalyptus, apricot, red chilies, Mexican cigar spices, and peppercorn dust. Cinnamon-oak builds to a crescendo of resinous might in a cloud of foundry smoke. Allspice appears with oregano following hot on its trail. Spicy and precise. #oldweller #weller #oldwellerantique #oldwellerantiqueoriginal107 #oldweller107 #weller107 #bourbon #kentuckybourbon #kentuckystraightbourbonwhiskey #genuineoldlinesourmash #oldlinesourmash #buffalotracedistillery #wheatedbourbon #kybourbon #frankfurtky #buffalotrace #antiqueseries — 24 days ago

Siponey

Royale Rye Whiskey

Super fun. It’s like a drink for the multitaskers: you can get all the joy of whisky and LaCroix but in one drink and it helps save bees. Oh and it tastes good and refreshes while intoxicating. If it were a person it would be that hip friend who does all the sustainable things but not as performance and still accepts me even if I fuck up and use paper towels occasionally. That friend will still be friendly and refreshing. I don’t know for sure Siponey would accept me but I like the line this can walks. — 2 months ago

George T. Stagg Limited Edition 128.2 Barrel Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

I’m not really a bourbon guy, but I’ve tried most of the ‘greats’. This was a very generous gift from a friend. I’ve had it before, and this was just as epic. It’s a stunning bourbon. Screw your Pappy’s, this is the real deal. There’s roses and floral notes at the start. A freshness you really don’t expect given the intensity of the alcohol (waaaay overproof) then an intensity of taste on the midpalate with all the caramel, and depth you’d expect of a great bourbon, but loads of complex secondary stuff. It’s a trip on the palate with a midpalate would be brutal in other hands given the alcohol level, but here it really sings. I’m a wine guy. This is incredible once you get over the shock of the alcohol. If you only splurge on one bourbon, for me, this is the one. — a month ago
