Vecina Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1999

David T

A recent gift from someone with whom I do business. Nice gift.

Started slow...still needed more time than a hour decant. But, really started to blossom on the second pour.

This was about as savory & herbaceous as a Napa Cabernet gets. After 19 years in bottle slightly over delivering on its RP rating.

A better Allen Brothers Ribcap wine than the 04 Cos D’ Estournel at this point & time.

Ginestra Casa Maté Barolo Nebbiolo 1998

Opened Oct 14, 2020, slow ox 1 hour in the bottle. Almost no ageing signs, very nice and still young, in blind tasting was mistakenly identified as its brother, Gavarini Chinera 1998, which, opened that night along, turned out very mature with nice nose and black fruits - as the Casa Mate presumingly should be. Should have been the orher way around - per the vineyards cpecs, interesting. Hold — a year ago

Nice crisp acidity that we thought would go well with Asian food, but alas, it fell short.

Huntington Pinot Noir 2016

This is comfort food Pinot. I paired tonight’s bottle with homemade chicken and biscuits veggie pie. Heaven! Perfect cool climate cherry forward wine with foresty flooriness. Also married well with the truffle Brie appetizer. Fall season delight! — 7 days ago

I’ve considered this to be a great PN for the money.

Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru Chardonnay 2013

A classical Meursault with a floral, mineral, citrusy nose and noisettes in the medium length medium body register. Great balance and worked really well with food. Highly recommended. — 8 days ago

Clos De La Roilette

Cuvée Tardive Fleurie Gamay 2010

Just needed 3/4 years after release to shed some of that extra meat locker taste to it. Raspberry, dark cherry, Asian spices, bacon fat. Better with food. — 8 days ago

Nice. Love this wine, '10 was the first vintage I started only buying it in mag. Got every year since.

They get to a certain point of maturity and stay there for a number of years. I’ve rarely had a bottle that taste the same for multiple years. Just doesn’t change. Nice bottle.
