Purity Wine

Clos des Papes

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2019

The back label says 15.5% but I am digging this nonetheless. Nose has spiced dark berry fruit of pristine purity. There’s also a bit of crushed rock and fresh green herbs. In the mouth it’s so deep and flavorful. I don’t think I’d be able to say it’s over 15 if served this blind. Length for days. Delicious. — 6 days ago

Last bottle. No formal notes. Wow. Just one of the best values I have ever had. Unreal density, purity and length. Saline and flowers. Just brilliant. — 5 months ago

No formal notes. Love 2020. So classic and mineral. Huge wet earth nose that developed into a mineral nose with crystalline purity. Palate is round and electric at the same time. Some fruit but more mineral driven — 2 years ago

Les Enfers Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Champagne Chardonnay 2013

Really cool to have this wine with age. A phenomenal vintage for Olivier Collin. It has evolved beautifully in bottle, seamlessly balanced between richness and elegance with stunning purity, depth and texture that wraps around the palate with a long, salty mineral laced finale. Killer bubbles. — a month ago

Mölsheim Riesling 2019

Aromatic and so pure.
Honeysuckle, peach pie, a touch of lanolin and mandarin peel. And yet - this is retrained & quite cool. Warm slate emerges.
On the palate this is impeccably balanced, so poised. Juicy, just ripe, with purity of fruit and amazing tension. Finishes off with a slightly creamy mouthfeel (very Burgundian!) and a beautiful long mineral finish.
Drinking perfectly right now. Simply delish!

Deep and ripe nose that is totally giving me Corton Charlemagne vibes. Ripe apple, melon, cantaloupe and pear. Gorgeous in its purity. Man this is like white burgundy mimicry. Gorgeous spicey notes and complex smokey tones and amazing mineral notes. Such an enveloping and evocative nose. Palate is so awesome. Rich and textured and so deep and this has those German iodine and hazelnut notes that make you think your in Corton Charlemagne. Ripe and unctuous and so forward and unreal marzipan notes on the mid and finish. Wow does this really hammer you on the finish and not let up. Remarkable elegance and large scaled but nimble. As this airs it gains remarkable aromatic complexity with pulverized stones and barely ripe tropical fruits. So complex. Rich yet tense is the biography of this wine. One of the best 18’s I’ve had from Germany. — 3 months ago

Really pure and light and lifted. Soft floral notes and a steely spine underpinning it. Long and tense and perfectly balanced with a purity and deftness that is gorgeous. The best 96 I’ve had from them. — 6 months ago

I bought a bunch on release—$200–and love this wine. Guy in NY bought 500 six bottle cases on release—imagine it’s a daily drinker for him. Amazing stuff.

That figures. Good for him. I have a few bottles but it’s always been too tight when I’ve tasted it to think of opening it. It’s singing now though
