Tis the season for soul warming Languedoc reds. This was the basic faugeres, carignane/Grenache/cinsault blend. Soft and mellow, black cherry fruit has maybe dried out a little, slightly brown even, but still there, plus olives, herbs, some subtle brett. Is it more fun than a Barral of monkeys? Hitting its stride. Extroverted nose. Roasted meat, coffee bean, brambly blackberry, dry gravel. Savory and with nice acidity, this is the polar opposite of a jammy Zin. Intense, iodine laced Zinny flavors. Great wine. — 4 years ago
