Tenuta Sette Ponti

Oreno Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2014

Just opened a bottle! Sette Ponti or "seven bridges," refers to the 7 bridges crossing the Arno River on the road from Arezzo to Florence. Blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cab Sauv & 10% Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in new French oak. Had this in a restaurant with a porterhouse. Very dark Ruby with concentrated aromas of dark fruits & earthy notes. Flavors of cherry & plum with tobacco and spice. Fine approachable tannins, medium length ending with a bit of spice as the finish builds. Great now! — 7 days ago

Millepassi Bolgheri Superiore 2013

Another powerful Super Tuscan, which is similar to the Oreno I drank before. Not quite as strong as Oreno. Strong pepper in front, followed by earthy flavors. A great buy. — 5 days ago

Crognolo Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2016

Excellent for this price point. Baby Oreno. Needs big decant, nice spice. — 2 months ago

Rosso Di Spicca Rosso Orvietano Sangiovese Canaiolo Blend 2016

Compared to an Oreno consumed the night before, this one was missing a bit more. It was better with food than on its own. The wine poured with a slight violet color. Nose and front palate of sweeter, slightly black fruits with a hint of fig. Medium + density. Gains a hint of plum with a grit and a tannic finish that is subtle but noticeable. I am not sure this is made to do anything but drink now. — 2 years ago
