Marey-Monge Romanée-St. Vivant Pinot Noir 2004

Not as expressive as I had wanted. The 06 was the better wine tonight — 2 months ago

Château de Pommard

Clos Marey-Monge Pinot Noir 2016

Chateau de Pommard. A beautiful place in the picturesque village of its name’s sake. This is where the micro terroirs of Burgundy, or climats, came to life for us when we visited a year ago. Their vineyard around the Chateau was a mosaic of climats that produced just an incredible diverse and contrasting Pinot Noir wines. The Monopole is a blend of seven different blocks from the limestone and clay-rich terroirs. It is a deeply complex, rich Burgundy Pinot. Layers of reserved red fruit infused with subtle notes of earthy forest floor and mushroom, all wrapped in smooth silky tannins providing a balanced lingering finish. I guess you can tell we are still under its spell 😊 — 4 months ago

Bodegas Hidalgo

La Gitana Manzanilla Sherry

Pale light gold in colour. Aromas of Flor yeast, nutty, oxidative. Aspects of over ripe mouldy apple. Refreshing and salty, finishing bone dry. Trying to understand Manzanilla and Sherry in general. This is a fino Sherry made from the Palomino grape. The more I sipped this the more I liked it. 15%ABV. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think Manzanilla is best drunk when young and fresh. Incredible value at only $25 AUD for a half bottle. — 6 months ago

Great bang for your buck isn't it.
And yes, most Manzanillas are best drunk soon after bottling and after opening. Preferably the same day. 😁 Manzanilla has a thicker flor growth (than Fino) therefore it has more protection from O2. QED, keep it away from O2, and the safest place from oxygen is in your stomach. 😀

Callejuela

Blanquito Manzanilla Pasada

N: Big petroleum nose, citrus, vanilla, rind, saline, very clear.
P: Delicate palate, bitter finish, crisp apples, not bone dry, some wood influence. Long textural finish that’s almost sappy.
Delicious!
