A lovely nose. Hints of spice and toast notes. On the palate secondary notes coming through but lovely freshness. Quite punchy in the middle with good acidity. Apricots and a relief minerality. Really complex and in a great place. — 3 years ago
Family history dates back to the 16th century. Name of Grand-Puy, mentioned in documents from Middle Ages, comes from ancient term "puy" means "hillock, small height". Since 16th century, property was passed from generation to generation, until 1920s when the Borie's bought the property. 80% Cab Sauv, 80% new oak, aromas of ripe red fruits with floral spice. Palate shows blackberry and cherry fruit, well balanced, nice oak integration, chewy tannins ending with spicy mineral tones. — 2 years ago
Delicious jammy blend. Smooth hints of vanilla and pairs well with smoky bbq flank steak — 4 years ago
Haven't logged anything in ages but had to write about this. Full nose with bready, yeasty notes. Rich and concentrated on the palate. Tart apple and pear. — 6 months ago
I am a big fan of David Swift Phinney wines. In 1998 David founded Orin Swift Cellars; Orin is his father’s middle name and Swift is his mother’s maiden name. Aged 10 mos in French oak, 42% new, Ruby with complex aromas of fresh fruits, floral and herb spice, nice mouthfeel. On the palate flavors of raspberry and cherry with cacao and hints of pepper spice. Rich full chewy tannins, well balanced on long finish ending with fruit and earthy spice. — 2 years ago
