The 2009 Extra-Brut Aÿ Vauzelle Terme, 100% Pinot Noir from a south-facing slope, is surprisingly ethereal in its first impression, before the natural power of the vintage makes itself felt. Mirabelle, crushed flowers, spice, mint and sweet dried cherry add pretty shades of nuance. The personality of Pinot from Aÿ comes through loud and clear. Disgorged May 2019 and bottled with no dosage. (Originally published in August 2020) (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2020) — 3 years ago

We are upping the game before we go to the vintage champagne vertical later. Just as Xmas with the family should be — 3 months ago
OG house. In 1843 Krug left Jacquesson to form his own house. Herbicide-free, terroir-based philosophy. It also retired, after 150 years, its NV blend and replaced it with a single-vintage-based cuvée, which changes yearly. And next came its terroir-based cuvées, an unprecedented move for a traditional house.
Instead of making a consistent wine every year, they set out to make the best possible blend each vintage. Jacquesson chose expression over consistency.
With the 2000 vintage, Jacquesson created a stir when they announced that its 150-year-old non-vintage Perfection Brut label would be retired and replaced with a numbered, vintage-based cuvée (the first being ‘728’). Each year, a new-subsequently numbered-cuvée is released, with Cuvée No. 734 based on the 2006 vintage, Cuvée No. 733 on the 2005 vintage, etc. — 7 months ago
We had the 2011 Vintage on 11/25~26. A terrific Burgundian wine with cherry and mushroom. Tannins all smoothed out. Had this 6 years ago and thought it was a dud. Patience is rewarded — 2 years ago

I’m at a 92+ here. 53% Chardonnay/ 30% Pinot Noir/ 17% Pinot Meunier aged four years in fine lees and finished with a 0.75 grams per liter dosage. Disgorged Dec 2021.
Always been a fan of Jacquesson champagnes, but these are getting to a price where I’m not sure the value is there for me much longer (not sure if it’s due to the Chiquet brothers selling the brand a few years ago).
The 745 series is based on the challenging 2017 vintage. Even with the near zero dosage, there is good depth and complexity here from a fruit standpoint (not austere for austere sake). Aromatically, it’s bright with lemon zest, pear, ginger and honey-dipped apple. Benefitted from a bit of air time in the bottle and not serving too cold…apple turns to a faint spiced cider profile, with lemon cream, sea salt, hint of yeast, and a classical chalky-limestone finish. — 24 days ago
