2012 Cayuse "Bionic Frog" Walla Walla Valley Syrah. In honor of my finally having made the grade to be blessed to receive a Frog allocation from Mr. Baron, I thought I’d celebrate by pulling the cork on this beast which was gifted to me by the most generous and revered wine Connoisseur, the man with the palate I so very much respect, the Rake of the Left Coast, the right honorable Mr. Bill Bender (@Bill Bender) First off, I find the Bionic Frog in general to be one of the most hedonistic, completely over the top and playful expressions of Syrah on the planet which of course, places it squarely in my wheelhouse. Still the most unique wine in the Cayuse lineup, and arguably one of the most sought after Syrah’s around. And now on to this vintage in particular, which none other than the esteemed Jeb Dunnuck(the one reviewer who I find to have a palate most closely aligned with my own) described with the enticing phrase “flirts with perfection.” Opaque, impenetrable ink blue in the stem. Wild, typical stoney Cayuse aromatics of black olives, bacon fat and dark fruits with notes of violets and lavender. A combination savory/sweet palate with olive tapenade, mushrooms and tar combined with sweet black plums and blueberry compote. Super rich, lush mouth feel. Dense concentration. Amazingly pleasing salinity on the lengthy finish. A full-throttle Porsche Cup Car lap of Road America, complete with The Kink, wine experience. (A track day we need to reprise soon Chuck). Sensory overload in the best way possible! The Frog knows! — 6 years ago
Usually not focused on this type of wine, it was a very pleasant tasting. Fresh and tangy attack on currant notes; the body is delicate and complex with extraction that brings relief. The finish is more than honorable on infused, hay, dried herbs notes. Balanced, really well done. 🇨🇭
🇨🇭 — 3 years ago
Honorable and pleasant 90% cab 10% merlot. I’d get to that vintage to drink now — 5 years ago
I thought I wasn’t a Beaujolais fan but wine reconciled me with one of the most controversial wines for French natives. Held consistently through several meals and even (hair rising on your arms - you purists!) a sojourn in the fridge. This is a very honorable wine for a light meal and can go well with meats and salads alike. — 6 years ago
What a delightful song this wine sings! What a pleasant surprise! What a great blend! Delicious on nose and palate. It has many characteristics of much more expensive wines. Great choice for every day house wine, even for some more honorable occasions. I just can’t stop drinking it 😀 — 6 years ago
We continue to discover Swiss wines on the spot .. Pleasant surprise with this beautiful Syrah. Very close to a Croze-Hermitage in design: Crunchy fresh black fruit, violet, licorice, herbaceous touch of mint and parsley, which makes this wine perfect on pasta-garlic-chili served with fresh arugula! Oaky tip well melted. Balance between freshness and density (medium). The honorable finish of duration .. this bottle at a reasonable price can certainly age favorably for two or three years minimum.
— 4 years ago
The label says HONORABLE, and it is. — 6 years ago

Stunning fuschia (like a level up from electric pink)! Full with fine bubbles and ripe but also savory ripe cherry (verging on Ludens in a good way) with an almost nutty finish. So damn good. — a day ago
