Colterris

Coloradeaux Red Wine 2020

Deep purple in color; blackberries, plums, and dried herbs on the nose (also cassis, i think); high acidity; bold smooth tannins; tastes like black cherries and plums with a long peppery finish. — a year ago

J. A. Balistreri Vineyards

American Carignan 2018

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Strong nose of cherries, raspberries, fresh strawberries, spices, light wood, tobacco, herbs, light vegetables, pencil lead, black pepper and earth.

Medium plus in body and elegant, with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with strawberries, raspberries, citrus, pomegranates, tobacco, light wood, earth, herbs, spices, dark coffee and peppercorn.

Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and pomegranates.

Here is another interesting wine from Colorado. Showing a great nose, although still young. Tangy and elegant with a nice mouthfeel, and nice complexity. Alcohol is already nicely integrated.

I let it open up for an hour in a decanter. Has potential to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

A very nice food wine that needs a few years to mature and come to its own. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

Grapes actually come from Amador County in California, and are hand-picked and fermented on their own yeast. Aged in American Oak barrels. Unfiltered and unfined.

15% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

Interesting that they chose American over Amador designation. Smart play being a Colorado winery.

Carlson Vineyards

Tyrannosaurus Red Lemberger 2018

Balanced smell with a sweet aroma, not full or deep but not lacking any size, has a slight punch but the sting doesn’t last, only the brightness of it. Very easy to drink and very tasty. — 3 years ago

Ruby Trust Cellars

The Outlaw Red Blend 2012

LOVE THIS WINE! So incredibly sad the winery is gone. 100% Petit Syrah. Great dark purple color. Nose of raspberries, red current, blackberries. Full bodied, velvet like. Taste of slight pepper, blackberries, jammy. Mmmmmmm..... miss this place!!! — 4 years ago
