Domaine du Coulet (Matthieu Barret)

Billes Noires Cornas Syrah 2011

Deep, savage, brooding wild black and purple fruit, smoke, pepper, meat, rocks and distilled violets. There’s some carbonic element that’s settled in nicely. Its low SO2 upbringing is evident, VA is elevated but right up to my limit. Quite lifted and pungently aromatic! Found the tannins settled too, acidity is really driving, the northern gore soils are showing their impact. Enjoyed seeing some bottle development here. — 3 years ago

Psychodaddy. Had this wine after the tom gore field blend, which seemed quite boring compared with this. Super tight wine, but in a pleasing way. Lots of dried fruit and intensity. Awesome wine. Bought at winery in 2017. — 5 years ago

Tom Gore Vineyards

California Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Deep purple in color; baking spices, black cherries, and graphite on the nose; medium plus acidity; high tannins; tastes like black currant (I think), blackberries, blueberry jam, and a hint of vanilla with a long finish. A really good wine. — 7 months ago

100 Shades Saperavi 2013

Terrific tenderness of close maturity! Elegant, silky, inspiring, soft, gorgeous representative of the style!
100%Saperavi harvested from best plots with controlled yield. Vinified with pigeage. MLF on pulp. Aged 1yr in Caucasian oak.

Dark cherry red, (pale) crimson rim.
Seducing bouquet of purple lilac, violets, huckleberry juice, campfire, prune, light whiff of barnyard, pine forest, blackberry, smoked tkemali plum, leather boots, hibiscus broth, old wood stump, peat, laurel, whiff of gore, black cherry jam, tobacco leaf, basil, curd, iodine, pome churchkhela, cinnamon pie, dried lavender, cappuccino.
Extremely rounded, silky and super-friendly palate. Medium(+) body, perfectly integrated acidity, gentle/polished tannins. Black gooseberry, blackberry, warm oak, blueberry, tobacco, earth, black currant jam, chokeberry jam, touch of milky chocolate.
Smoothly obducing and persistent finish of dried raspberry, black cherry, black currant jam, mocha and some gentle spices.
Paired fillet minion as well as lamb shovel baked with herbs.

Lake County Sauvignon Blanc 2016

This was recommended by the salesman in ABC Liquor. He said if you like Tom Gore, you'll love this. Well, he was right. This is a crisp, very subtly fruity fresh wine. Nice finish! — 7 years ago
