Peach, lemon, green apple. Aromatic, perfume and gardenia. Little R/S. M body, m+ acid. Overripe Apple on the palate. Great price point. — 8 years ago
White flowers, lime zest, typical petrol note, high acidity and creamy texture. — 2 years ago
Excellent. Approachable Nebbiolo, 2013--just enough age to make it enjoyable. Getting ready for our upcoming Italy trip! Looking for recommendations. Visiting Barolo et al and Puglia this time around.
Friends: where should we go? Who should we meet? What should we drink?

The highlight of the day, and maybe of the trip, was a personal tasting with @Mike Smith , winemaker of Myriad, Carter, Becklyn, Scarlett, Ancillary and many other well known labels. Mike was kind enough to pour some of his personal label (Myriad Cellars), a Pinot from Ancillary (project he does with Mark Carter) and capped off the tasting with some Carter Cellars. The Myriad Dr Crane Elysian and Carter Weitz Vineyards were standouts of the trip so far. The Weitz Vineyard had great power and energy to it. Like Mike said, he loves making super dark wines...most were almost black in the glass. Love those kinds of wines! Charcoal, blackberry, plum on the nose and palate. Difference between this and the Dr Crane Elysian was the Elysian felt more fruit forward and in your face. Loved the restraint on this. Mike, thanks again for an amazing wine tasting! And @Martin G Rivard , thank you for connecting me with Mike! @Shawn R , good call on having Carter added to our tasting...thanks! — 7 years ago
Bad cork, but good wine. Aromatically closed (like many 09's atm) which never really opened up as the night progressed, but you can certainly see the quality. Ripe and dense on the palate, with a fruit profile that treads on being bruised and plenty of spice notes, restrained by racy acidity and stony minerality. In comparison with the 09' Koehler Ruprecht Saumagen Spatlese trocken R, this looked rounder. Basically, less elegant and probably more like the Auslese trocken. Like the KR, it finished slightly warm, giving it's vintage away in the blind. There's also a touch of phenolic bitterness and oiliness in the mid-palate, which was a bit bothersome to me. The weakest wine of the night, but I think it will blossom in a couple of years. — 5 years ago
Delicious 12 year old wine enjoyed during Orange County Restaurant Week at True Food Kitchen. Wanted to try this place for years and finally an excuse came along. Dr. Andrew Weil is behind this restaurant. — 6 years ago
This run of about 13 PHENOMENAL wines I'm posting are from the SQN wine dinner/WNH interview I did at @Shawn R 's house last night. I was like a kid in a candy store on Christmas. What an absolutely EPIC night! Love ya brother!
We weren't poppin '90 Latour like @Martin G Rivard and the WNH were last month at 12-1AM, but we did open this up! This was just a small contribution from me that I wanted to bring as I know Shawn enjoys PH. And I may be leaning toward enjoying Dr Crane wines over To-Kalon. Crazy enough, this still has maybe 2-3yrs until it even begins peaking. At pop and pour, it was big on the nose with smoky cedar, blueberries and cassis. Not as dark as expected on the palate as it mixed in red fruits, but the finish was insanely long. Texture felt so incredibly pure and lush. It went too fast once it was opened! — 7 years ago

Cork was already in the bottle, don’t know for how long, but the fill of the bottle was perfect..! Bottle has been in my cellar for 10 years now and it did not seep a drop.
Very peculiar aromatics, yet still very much alive! — 9 months ago
