Alzero Veneto Cabernet 1997

Wow. Raisin, anise, licorice plum. Amazing structure from front to back. Seems like it nearing its end, but a delicious treat nonetheless. Drinking like a Dow port. — 2 months ago

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC)

La Tâche Pinot Noir 1990

Oenomaniacs don't have pearly gates, we have Domaine de la Romanee Conti La Tache 1990. Outrageously sexy, with a celestial perfume of asian spices and underbrush and dried cherry. Eternal finish that tattoos itself on your tongue and palate. Medium to full-bodied, with startling freshness and grip for a quarter-centurion. La Tache 1990 will enthrall for another 30 to 50 years.

Vintage Porto Port Blend 1994

Decanted 12 hours before serving. Very dark purple color, immense fruit and fair amount of spirit, less dry than other vintages of Dow, not Fonseca/Graham’s sweet, but just fantastic fruit with a tad more sweetness, immensely long finish, not ready to drink, hold 10-30 years, a WOW Porto!! — 2 months ago

Offley Boa Vista

Vintage Porto Port Blend 1977

Roots and flowers bouquet. Light body, high acid. Quite typical '77 style, and, although lacking the expansive finish of '77 Taylor or Dow, still satisfying. — 3 years ago

Good for new vintage. Not as smooth/full (?) as an older Dow, but we really like it. — 4 years ago

Dow's

Late Bottled Vintage Port 2011

Fall is almost here, and it’s the season I love to drink port. Dow, producing Ports for over 2 centuries. One of the first to establish its own vineyards, acquiring Senhora da Ribeira, in the remote Upper Douro, in 1890 & Bomfim, in the heart of Alto Douro, in 1896. Aromas of really ripe fruits & pleasant fragrant spices. On the palate, ripe fruit flavors, candied apple and sweet blackberries with bits of cacao and honey. Firm dusty tannins, good balance, lingering finish. Perfect now. Tasting Sample. — 6 months ago

Porto 1985

A good night for port. Feels as if it could snow, and we hardly ever get snow here. The Dow is sweet. But it doesn't have enough tannic grip to frame the sweetness. Typical '85 port. Not complaining; happy to be drinking it. — 3 years ago
