Excellent. Raspberry and cranberries with a soft velvet ness and a bit of body without heavy ness. A very fine wine especially for the price. With air or cellaring this will probably bloom more but it is still lovely. Interestingly I don’t pick up green peppers on this even though it definitely feels cab franc. Highly recommended. Second best cab franc I’ve had so far.
Edit after about an hour in decanter: still very nice but perhaps a little larger of a wine than I initially noticed. Not huge but more fruit and a bit of spice on the taste. A smidge tart on the aftertaste. Still I don’t find the green pepper here. Quite fine and still recommend. But the fruit is a bit more prominent. Maybe some bottle she would bring up more interesting secondary characteristics. — 6 months ago
Someone says it's a unicorn and i reckon they are spot on
Nearly impossible to source in Australia
Arguably one of the best rosé in the world, the best in Italy
Surely hard to put it in a category i think the unicorn category suits it best
It's like a red that drinks like a white
Cola, mushrooms, oregano, sundried tomatoes and so much more that i can't even recall
No need to say you wanna accumulate as much as u can and i assure you if stored well this will last for longer then a decade
Ps. I nearly forgot about the Australian Open final when drinking this..nearly i said😅 — 3 months ago
Drinking at the source…Les Avises restaurant at Jacques Selosse. Home for the weekend at Hoteles Avises.
Bucket list wine for me and it lived up to the hype. I love the Selosse champagnes for their oxidative profile and was curious how a rosé would drink made in that same manner…just a hint of sherry in the glass before an absolute tidal wave of flavor and power. Dried apricot, plum, cranberry and orange marmalade out of the gate. There is a sweet/savory roller coaster showing red flowers and shortbread before a pink sea salt and truffle spice arrives. Texturally, it’s commanding but so cerbreal. If you enjoy Egly Ouriet’s rosé, imagine more depth and complexity and you’ve got it. Stunning rosé and the best rosé champagne I’ve had. — 5 months ago
A gift for the Franks for my first time at Frankie’s Spuntino. In the same vein as Rinaldi but with a more rustic and herbal expression. Truly a show stopper. Rides that perfect line between wild and elegance. Ink and tar and flowers and just full joy. Have had many bottles that were cooked or just plain off. So thrilled to get these from the source — a year ago
2001 | Cabernet Sauvignon
Stags Leap Wine Cellars; FAY
(94.83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3.74% Merlot, 1.43% Petit Verdot)
Napa Valley; California, USA
(92-94; Drink 2016-31)
3H decant, much more time required, this will be a great day two wine.
Winery note, for good context/history:
FAY was originally planted to Cabernet Sauvignon in 1961, the introduction of the varietal to the area now designated as the Stags Leap District. When we acquired the property from Nathan Fay in 1986 many of the vines were therefore over a quarter-century old. The replanting of most of this historic vineyard was completed in the mid-1990s, and those vines are now in their prime, producing an abundance of excellent fruit with the rich flavor and elegant texture that have always characterized FAY Cabernet. But the old vines of Block 8-planted by Fay in 1973 and a source of expressive fruit that is a key component of CASK 23-were not removed until after the 2002 harvest. The 2001 vintage is therefore one of the last to include fruit from the "original" Block 8. — 6 months ago
Nose has ripe black cherry, menthol, few day old chocolate cake, blueberry jam and old cigar box. Initially alcohol makes itself known, but diminishing with air.
Palate has dried blackberries, dehydrated sweet cherry, over-ripe black cherry, dark chocolate covered espresso beans, faint cedar with medium tannins, long finish. A great wine but more air desired as improvements are noted.
Decanted 2H, then double-decant for service; notes at 4H open.
Second bottle of almost a case of old BV GdL from a very trusted local source, no disappointing. Many more bottles to go on this stellar vintage. 😉
A great paring to Ribeye from Allen Bros. topped with truffle butter. — 2 years ago

Opened yesterday, drank over 2 days.
The nose is very fruity and intense with dark cherry touches, earthy notes, some raspberry and blackberry scents too. I could even smell some peony notes too. This is really inviting. The palate is wide and long and quite complex. A good acid drive, some dark cherry notes all along, some very soft and easy going mouthfeel that is changing in mid palate with a great tannic wall, which adds a layer of dust over an otherwise quite juicy and fruity finish. In the back-end though, there is a tiny savoury note that pops along with a subtle bitterness. This is really my kind of cab franc. Really good stuff! — 2 months ago
