Domaine De La Croix Rouge

Clos de la Cerisaie

Anjou Rouge Cabernet Franc 2018

The nose makes you think this will be on the rustic side. The palate is quite approachable and easy right away. More structure (tannin) than expected at the entry level, but this definitely has the texture to balance the generous fruit. Very good. — 6 days ago

Bourgogne Rouge Pinot Noir 2017

Although often decent - I found that little red village Burgundies possess the unique elements of their superstar siblings. This one did - albeit in subtle hints, like the silent yet essential intro to a full blown concerto. This was very very good, yet most of all it made me long for a “normal” New Year’s Eve. — 24 days ago

Domaine Bernard Baudry

La Croix Boissée Chinon Cabernet Franc 2015

Loving the complexity and lots of flavors. Brick red in color, pretty vibrant still. Strong aromas. Like leather and black fruit. Medium high tannin. Medium acidity. Medium body. Tastes like a bit of leather or smoke but good fruit to balance that out. Medium long finish. I’m not a huge fan of the leather smoke notes but appreciate it for what it is and enjoying the complexity of flavors! I personally have to be in mood for this one but it’s a good one! — 3 days ago

Château Philippe-le-Hardi

Montée Rouge Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2016

I’ll preface this with the fact that I don’t drink a lot of Pinot as I’m not a huge fan.

This was an awesome rec from the guys at Amathus! 30+ minute decant. Lovely red color with ever so slight brown edges. Nose contained oak, vanilla, and strawberries. Cherries, cream, maple syrup, and cinnamon on the palate. Definitely on the sweeter side. This was like drinking cheesecake with cherries and cinnamon on top. Reminded me of the Dimchurch Shiraz, except in Pinot form. Could have been a little deeper, but had a great finish! Paired lovely with a sausage stuffed chicken breast, small Cornish potatoes, and cinnamon covered pears. One of the best dinners I’ve cooked in a while too, so I’m sure that impacted the experience and rating :)

Best Pinot I’ve ever had!! Buying more!

53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 5% petit Verdot. Decanted for 2.5 hours. Earthy, graphite, hints of vanilla, cocoa, and a a good amount of herbaceousness. Springy and fresh acidity. Very tannic, lingers on the palate. Well structured. Absolutely delicious. — a day ago

Amaze-balls. Incredible wine. Unreal color. Light on the palate, but surprising amount of body. Ethereal in a fantastic way. Structured. Long + finish. Happy to say I own a ton of this, in a variety of vintages. Cannot wait to get even more involved with this. — 2 days ago
