Consumed half bottle at pop, then corked for another 4hrs before consuming the rest. No change.

What a beautifully elegant and refined ‘09. The highest compliment I can give this is that it was a simplistic joy. Some wines make it easy to get nerdy and command your attention…some wines are underwhelming and not worth your time. This was squarely in the middle. It was a joy to not feel the need to overthink…it’s exactly what it should be. No bricking at almost 15yrs. Decidedly black fruit heavy (black currant, cassis, underripe blackberries) with a sprinkling of raspberries and black cherries. Aromas of sweet pipe tobacco, dark florals. Integrated on the palate with good structure and acidity…not a massive wine, but it put on a bit of weight/length the longer it was open. Still sporting a fair bit of tannin at the finish, but it’s balanced. Drink or hold. — 17 days ago

Dark ruby hue with slight brickish tinge. Big bouquet of dark fruit (including blackberry, cassis, and plum). Plus body, plus tannins, plus acid. Elegant with a medium-length finish. Exemplary Right Bank Bordeaux. 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. — 3 days ago

Classic BDX . Cassis and thyme on the nose. Cedar and hints of graphite in the background. Lots of acid with medium tannins which shows its youth but also it’s backbone for aging. Fantastic young Bordeaux , great structure and balanced. 13.5% — 9 days ago

Full bodied, dense, deep ruby Bordeaux. On the nose: dark mulberry fruit,cedar, & a touch of eucalyptus/camphor. On the palate: dark fruit, cedar and light tannins. After 40 minutes decanted the tannins recede and the soft fruit is delicious. This wine is fully mature and a terrific offering from Medoc. 2020 vintage. Big, darkly-fruited nose that rolls over to the flavors. Medium body. Great complexity for initial and mid-palates, Finish is where things drop off a cliff. Solid banger for the price. If only some of that impressive, frontal assault could be transferred to the back end, we'd be in clover. Nice, first-time BDX to get the palate rolling/draw people in tho. 3.15.24. — a month ago
