Hot nose, big floral, fat berry, tar, chocolate. Medium dry tannins, lots of oak, takes away a bit from the fruit. Tight. Needs to breathe. I’ll wait to score. After two hours it’s put on weight. Fruit came out and tannins became well integrated. I’d have given it a 87-88 on opening but now it’s a solid 92. — a month ago

The extra skin contact on this is delightful and probably makes it more intense. I’m into it. Lots of ripened tropical fruit, mint and sage, green tea, medium acidity, but with a saline kick that brings it all together. — 8 months ago

The nose on the ‘21 Areio e Vento e Amor hits you from 5 ft away, full of ripe fruit but also chocolate, mushroom, and brush. It’s a translucent purple with a touch of Evangelho dusty-ness in the glass. Smooth and balanced with mild tannins at first, it opened up in the glass and alongside food to some intense berry jam and pepper flavors. — 10 months ago
