The 2019 Carema Etichetta Nera is a bit darker and richer than the White Label, as it often is. Black cherry, plum, leather, menthol, licorice and dried herbs are nicely pushed forward. Overall, this is a relatively mid-weight vintage for the Black Label, but it has better energy and a very long finish. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, February 2024)

This is closed now. Notes are an hour in.
Nose: a gorgeous herbaceous ness. Fleeting cherry flowers.
Palate: fleeting cherries. Almost a cherry sorbet. So silky. Beautiful in an ephemeral way.
This is beautiful. Too young. But beautiful.

Wow. Nose is so pungent. Spice and sour cherry. Earthy and so deep but also some gorgeous florals. Spectacular. Elegant and juicy but also young and unformed. Needs air. But it’s all there. Huge acid and length. Very sapid. As this airs the tart cherry fruit stands out as does the concentration but all in all after 4 hours a very closed wine that needs maybe 8-10 years. Today it is softer and suppler and has major mid season sapid cherry fruit. Wonderful — a month ago
The 2019 Carema Etichetta Bianca is laced with sweet pipe tobacco, cedar, mint, dried flowers, crushed rocks and Alpine herbs. This is an especially floral, savory vintage for the Etichetta Bianca, a wine that impresses with its energy, verve and class. The only thing missing here is a bit of freshness and depth. Very light color. But huge intensity along a nimble frame. Great freshness. Elegant and rustic at the same time with sweet cherry fruit but intermingled with citrus. Long finish and killer acids. Nose is a bazaar of spices. Really nice texture and suavity. Love this wine. — 2 months ago
The 2019 Carema is a gorgeous, deep wine. It is also incredibly young to the point that the aromatics are quite closed. Bright red-toned fruit, blood orange, mint, crushed rocks, rose petal and cinnamon struggle to emerge. There's plenty of intensity, especially for Carema, but readers will have to be patient. The 2019 needs a ton of time. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, February 2024)

From a lesser known “produttori” in Piemonte. Cantina Produttori Nebbiolo di Carema (what a mouthful) is a tiny cooperative in, you guessed it, Carema.
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Fairly consistent throughout but I think I preferred the energy on Day 1. The 2016 Riserva pours a pale garnet with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity and no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of pomegranate, slightly bruised strawberry, toe jam (yeah, well…I’m not wrong), alpine herbs, roses some balsamico and rocky earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and saline with a silky texture. Until now, my only experience with the Carema DOC has been with Ferrando’s Etichetta Bianca and Etichetta Nera. While this bottle didn’t have the same drama as those wines from Ferrando, this was a very good example of Carema. Drink now and through 2031. — 10 days ago
