palate as above but add minerality, limestone chalkiness, and tonic ~ as well as golden sultanas to the broad fruit profile
very forward and focused ~ slight mid palate ~ good length ~ delivers a wealth of complexity in a compact space — 2 years ago
At 10 years this wine is still a baby. Very dark and rich with almost black residue on the cork. Not cold stabilized but not an issue. A wealth of Napa Cabernet fruit and French oak to please your palate. Expensive but it delivers on many levels. Benchmark Napa Cabernet from a stellar grower and producer. 🍷🍷🍷 — 2 years ago
Light and crisp with surprising minerality for the Shenandoah Valley and tart lemon-like acidity. Reminiscent of a good Spanish Albariño. Shoutout to the good people of CWC, can’t wait to visit. — 8 months ago
Just a stunning and unique nose of startling originality. Wild mint, flowers and pollen. Marzipan. Really floral like a flower shop but also the pollen is really there and really unique! Stunning. Deep slate and minerality behind it all. Genius. The vividness and accuracy of the aromas is blowing my mind. 9.9 nose. Just magical. Smells Tolkienesque. My god how elegant this wine is and super fresh. Intense, exploding minerality and endless depth. The acid is perfection for all the wealth of material. Length is stupid long. This glides on the palate. What a mid palate and an almost tannic grip on the finish. This initially is 100% mineral on the palate and I’m curious if it will fruiten up. I know it will. That finish is full of pulverized slate and keeps going and going. Amazing concentration and mouthfeel. The acid is so straight. Doesn’t go up or down, weather stays right down the middle of the plate. I love this when. So unique, delicious and exciting. I’ll be back as it airs out. — 2 years ago
This wine pours up bubbly and with a very slight copper-tinted hue. The nose offers a wealth of cherry, apricot and lemon aromas, but in a savory framework of salinity. There is a yeasty touch as well. On the palate, the fruit leads the way, but an amazing acidity really steals the show. This wine is as fresh and lively as they come. Pair it with just about anything - that’s the real beauty of a sparkling wine, its versatility. — a year ago
This wine has a beguiling Ruby color that gives away nothing about its age. On the nose, black cherry, cassis, violet, cigar box and a wealth of tertiary aroma including mocha, leather, mushroom and forest floor hint at its 17 year age but the wine is vibrantly youthful. It is surprisingly medium bodied and relatively restrained - not as much power as I expected but it has a finish that seems nearly endless to confirm its pedigree — 2 years ago
