Corona Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Found this quite jammy and unidimensional. Pleasure bomb nonetheless. — 3 years ago

Cherry Pie Wines

Pinot Noir

Sept 2020 $? (~15-20?) at Norman’s. Color: garnet with corona of raisiny brown. Open about 30 min and... fine. Not sweet, good tannins in mouth, no linger. Unremarkable and goes down easily. After bottle open about 90 min, more spice and edge, classic yet not complex (at all) Pinot flavor. Alc %14.5 but does not land as a “strong” wine. No actual negatives but would only buy ‘16 again for $8 or less. High rating b/c so very easy to drink. — 3 years ago

Borgo Paglianetto

Petrara Verdicchio di Matelica

In a professional degustation anywhere in this world I would give him a good 8.8.

But here, in Mondolfo/Marche, Osteria El Gatt, seafruit plate on the table, almost empty beach-view given by the Corona-effect....and with my smiling girl-friend in front of me....it’s a 10!

Let’s compromise on a 9.3!

Drinks best in Corona, Italy. 2013 vintage...did not decant but probably should have, probably should be aged in bottle longer, perhaps still young. Great bouquet, silky smooth medium body (alas!) bright tannins and notable dry berry on the palate with but a bit of astringent finish. Very nice wine but not perfect...requires more aging. — 3 years ago

Cornas Syrah 2013

Too bad I still can't smell anything after corona... Palate is impressive, great structure, concentration and long full of iron finish! — 3 years ago

Monastero Suore Cistercensi

Coenobium Lazio Bianco Trebbiano Blend 2018

The wines of Coenobium are made by a sisterhood of nuns from the Latium region of Italy close to Rome. They make two wines. Both varying degrees of Orange. That’s it.
The Bianco is barely Orange, with a Corona appropriate level of skin contact (barely any).
I’d lump these into the OG category of Natural Wines - they see consulting from the god of Italian Orange, Mr. Bea.
Pours hay with notes of apples and white flowers and salty peachy flavors.

Corona del Valle

Valle de Guadalupe Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Cherry beef jerky, standing outside a leather shop, lavender and hints of five spice powder on the nose. Very soft, smooth, and polished mouthfeel, thick but subtle legs with kirsch, amaretto, blood orange with under layer of summer berry compote and hints of five spice powder comes out on a long finish at the end. Really really nice. — 3 years ago

Bloomer Creek Vineyard

Tanzen Dame Finger Lakes Dry Gewürztraminer

An orange shade reminiscent of the sun’s corona.

Just a pretty bouquet. The sweetness of a rose, the citrus of orange peel, the greenery of basil, parsley, and mint. Honeycomb and a hillside breeze.

Slight effervescence. Dry. Still as juicy as a plump, fresh orange. The afternote of grapefruit lingers along with honey.
