K vintners continue to achieve excellence! This is 2013 The Creator! A blend of 74% cab and 26% syrah from both River Rock and Jack’s Vineyards. I love this winery in Walla Walla valley in Washington state! This was one of the first wineries that got me hooked on Cabernet blends some 30 years ago. And still today they rock it! The bouquet is blackberry cobbler fresh out of the oven and the image of it sitting on top of the stove cooling off. Then the initial palate delivers an intense burst of dark blackberry and dark currant. The mid palate grabs on fast with a vanilla and mild spice that screams “... get the vanilla ice cream now!” The finish is new oak and earth tones of volcanic soil. Kapow!!!!!! I need another sip NOW. Buy this wine my friends! — 6 years ago
Tonight we had good life long friends over and we opened a wonderful this St. Julien Bordeaux. 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot. Just like how I like my Bordeaux, well balanced, good fruit and a sense of place. On the nose I can pick up notes of plum, black raspberry, black currant and a nice licorice. On the palate the is good dark fruit, black cherry, black raspberry, black currant, cassis, tobacco, and smoky campfire. I love the chewy tannins and a medium + acidity with a good long finish. Everything I look for in a quality Bordeaux. — 9 years ago

For #tempranilloday here is a delicious one from Rioja.
A very pretty color of dark ruby with a reddish/ brick rim.
Delightful nose of blueberries, black currants, sweet cherries, wood, licorice, spices, light vanilla, earth, tobacco, peppercorn, pencil lead, dark coffee and dark chocolates.
Medium plus in body and elegant with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with cherries, blueberries, cedar, spices, tobacco, brown sugar, coffee, earth, wet rocks, vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine-grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a great Tempranillo blend from Rioja. Spicy and intense with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.
This 8 year old is starting to drink very nicely now. Would be nice to see how it evolves in the next 10 years.
Good by itself as a sipping wine. A good wine to enjoy with friends and talk about. Awesome nose. Loved smelling on it for a long while.
Needs 90 minutes in a decanter to open up properly and remove some of the acidity, so take your time.
A good food wine too. Nicely balanced with enough fruits for the earthiness this region brings to the table.
A good quality wine that will age nicely in the next 10 years. The tangy finish makes it interesting.
A blend of 88% Tempranillo and 12% Graciano. Grapes were hand-harvested and aged for 26 months in French Oak barrels.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
92 points.

Total Wine - $26 - Good bottle of wine. Black fruit flavor with a kick. Very drinkable with a meal or sitting around with friends. I enjoyed it. Will buy again. — 8 years ago
My friends Andy and Jess got married back on Dec 26, 2011. They had a few cases of this at the wedding. Loved it. Took home the leftovers and enjoyed the last bottle with them a few weeks back. Happy to say that they are very much still together and the wine was still awesome! Cheers to the Mays! — 11 years ago
Still a very robust wine. Not in the least past its prime. There’s a lot of fruit left, but there’s also a lot of oak., even after 26 years. This has dried out the wine a little bit. Don’t make too much out of my criticism. The wine is very enjoyable, so the bottle was finished without any complaints from my friends at the table.

From Magnum.
There are few things in life better than a 30 year old Bordeaux, grilling, great family, friends, music and environment. Today is hitting on all cylinders.
There is no amount of decanting a young wine that will give you or replace what 26 years in bottle delivers. I did not decant this wine but let breathe and poured slowly. As its lingered, it put on weight and keeps getting better. There are simply flavors and nuances that only come out in well made and aged wine that make them all the more special.
On the nose; sweet & sour dark ripe cherries, blackberries, baked plum & strawberries, cooked rhubarb & hues of blueberries. Lots of saddle-wood, cedar, light, soft spices, forest floor with dry leafs, dark rich soil, limestone, dry stones, dry tobacco, red fruit liqueur/cola, steeped tea, just whiff of herbaceous and dark red, blue flowers and violets.
The palate is medium to full. The body round, soft and glides effortlessly over the palate. The length, structure, tension and balance are in perfect harmony. Ripe; sweet & sour dark ripe cherries, blackberries, baked plum, raspberries & strawberries, cooked rhubarb & hues of blueberries. Lots of saddle-wood, cedar, old suede style leather, light, soft spices, forest floor with dry leafs, dark rich soil, limestone, underbrush, dry stones, dry tobacco, dry top soil, shades of red fruit liqueur/cola, steeped tea, just whiff of herbaceous and dark red, blue flowers and violets. The acidity magnificent. The beautiful, round, ripe, earth & fruit balanced finish is extremely special due to it age and lasts several minutes. This is why I long cellar Bordeaux. The experience is always ethereal!

Capping off a wine-filled weekend with an elegant wine of age shared with colleagues and friends. #RauzanSegla 1989. Classy and fresh at 26. It's sweet perfume seduces the palate and soothes the soul. Cheers! #Bordeaux #Margaux — 9 years ago

It was a special night. 26 year old wine, that incredibly felt like it was just bottled. Tannins still present. Rich black fruit, with graphite and pencil shavings. As special as it was to enjoy this bottle with friends, it’s hard to reconcile the value of the wine. We had a Cos De Estournel with this and it showed just as well at a fraction of the cost. — 2 years ago
