Presented double-blind; cloudy in the glass, sediment?…almost opaque but not quite. Color a deep ruby with a slightly lighter rim. Aromas of red and dark fruits with baking spice and damp forest floor. On the palate, very generous black and red fruit with baking spice, earth and leather. Apparent use of some new French oak. Medium plus alcohol, medium acid. Tannins are soft and integrated. Long, immensely satisfying finish. Most thought it had 5-10 years of age on it; Napa or Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon. Some thought Southern Rhone…noting that it shared some similarities in profile to Pegau and Rayas (!!!). Everyone swooned with it was revealed to be 2007 Rafanelli Zinfandel. FWIW, this wine has many years ahead of it. — 14 days ago
100% syrah, bio, organic. Fifi. Wild berries, game, herb, soft acidity, just delicious natural wine. -christy says it smells like stalactites. — 7 days ago
Golden sour A. Aged with apricots. Best beer of the 12 pack so far. Just outstanding wild grassy flavors with subtle ripe apricot mixed with tart skins. Hugely floral with lemongrass. — 15 days ago
Somm. Very full of fruit, peach, watermelon, light, and mineral. Refreshing Rose. Celebrated an early dismissal and a snow day for following day! Would buy again. — 5 days ago
If it didn’t have such a weird name I probably wouldn’t have bought it, hefty decant needed but 😳👍🏼

Showing beautifully from barrel and not disappointing from bottle, the 2012 Hommage a Francois Durif No. 1 (I reviewed this last year as the Petite Sirah) is a blend of 100% Petite Sirah that's certainly one of the finest examples of this variety coming out of California. Inky colored and a big, voluptuous and decadent beauty, it offers terrific notes of blackcurrants, plum, toasted spice, leather, graphite and espresso. Full-bodied, concentrated, rich and yet always balanced and light on its feet, it has sensational purity of fruit, a big, rich mid-palate and tons of sweet tannin that coat the palate and lengthen the finish. I wouldn't open another bottle for 2-3 years, but it will have 15-20 years of longevity. — 3 days ago
Thank you to 67 Pall Mall for the Christmas/New Years gift. The best wine club in the world for so many reasons!! Hope to be back in person soon!
My wife enjoyed the Riesling, but I would need more to form a proper opinion.
Honestly, all the reds displayed their region and terroir perfectly. Easily to pick out which wine was which. I would rate them all between 9.2 and 9.4. If I had to pick a winner I would go with the 2013 VIK. — 23 days ago
What a wine!! So great, so beautiful, so full of potential. — 3 days ago
Stunning. New but not modern. Huge power, beautifully (fully) integrated wood on this pure Sauv Blanc. Insane length and delineation across the palate. Shockwave structure. — 13 days ago
