54% Carignane 26% Zin, 20% Mataro. Popped and poured. Gorgeously zingy Carignane dark cherry and blackberry Zin fruit combine but are going mano-a-mano with American oak coconutty scents. Perhaps that’ll integrate with air. On the palate there’s beautiful fruit/acid/tannin balance. Nicely concentrated. Should be really good with pasta con broccoli rabe.

UPDATE: This was a hair better on night 2. The oak had settled down a bit and the beautifully pure fruit was out front in the limelight. — 5 months ago

Deep, brick red. Mature, yet youthful. Smells potent, with ripe fruit and a hint of earthiness. Very substantial mouthfeel, velvety tannins, ripe fruit, balanced acidity, super complex! Lengthy finish. So good! 62% Cab Sauv - 26% Zin - 12% Syrah (15.5% ALC.) This would go well with lamb, pork, or beef, as long it's not too spicy. Medium garnet color with slight brownish bricking of old wine. Surprisingly fresh and lively for a 26 year old Zin! Nose of dark red fruits and some creaminess and earthy notes. Balanced palate and good finish. Outstanding Acker buy also of Magnums. — 5 years ago
