Weinhaus Rabe

Evening Land Vineyards

Seven Springs Vineyard Pinot Noir 2011

I REALLY like this wine. It’s very Willamette-y: smoke, dirt, cranberries, dried herbs, low-tannins, food-friendly, ‘approachable’...transforms somewhat as you let it sit in the glass...I think Evening Land is becoming one of my favorite wineries...paired with seared duck over a broccoli-rabe mix, and quinoa-Yam pilaf. We decanted for an hour. — a day ago

Weinhaus Kessler

Hochgewāchs Brut Chardonnay

A sparkling wine (“champagne”) from Germany, typically used at official government state dinners.
Very light in fragrance of stone fruit. Drinks incredibly smoothly, not as acidic as typical champagne and not sweet like Prosecco. A great balance of both!!

Cuvée Christine Sonoma County Syrah 2003

Pax Cuvée Christine, Sonoma County 2003. Recently started drinking Pax, but this is my first with good age. 16 years but still opened pretty tight despite decanting. Beautiful nose with lots of leather and mushroom. Great earth on the palate, with some dark red fruits and some dried red and maybe some red stone fruits. Served with Shepard’s pie, hen of the woods mushrooms, bucatini with lamb ragu, and broccoli rabe. Still remarkably young, but mellowed with some air. — 9 months ago

Spring Mountain Vineyard

Napa Valley Red Blend 2007

Pretty delicious 13 year old California Cab (with a touch of Cab Franc). Deep red color. Tobacco on the nose, dark fruits on the palate. Not too much alcohol on the nose or palate. Enjoyed at home on lock down with grass fed NY steak, couscous, sautéed mushrooms, and some broccoli rabe. — 4 months ago

Intense white floral aromas. Ripe stone fruit of peach and apricot. Grapefruit. Super high acidity and lush residual sugar. Big yum! — 7 months ago
