Barolo Nebbiolo 2015

High QPR traditionally-produced Barolo, a blend of many crus in and around Castiglione Falletto. Typical Nebbiolo notes, nothing earth-shattering but no “off” components either... just a solid Barolo at a great price. Costco. — 4 days ago

Côte de Léchet Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2005

Marigold and pressed yellow flowers on the nose plus golden delicious apple, and flinty minerals. A touch of green, skunky aroma. Palate is buttery, deftly flirting with oxidation but still youthful. Great texture and density- salty minerals play off each other in the mouth. Great last entry of the trio of Defaix 1er crus from 2005. Still slightly behind the Vaillons in terms of pure pleasure. — 12 days ago

Les Blanchots Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2014

Some slight oak traces and lemon on the palate. A wine with some reduction but also that is delicious with good concentration , minerality and nice balance overall. Lacks depth and finesse of the best Grands Crus but still a good bottle. 90-91

Fratelli Alessandria

Barolo Nebbiolo 2010

This was really good after many years in bottle. I really enjoyed this wine and the 2010s when they were released. I like the pure, feminine style of the Fratelli Allesandria. A Barolo that is easy to drink without any harsh flavor and not overly tannic. Impressive entry level wine that shows better than the majority of the crus I tasted. 9/5/20 — 13 days ago

Dom Ruinart Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne Chardonnay

From a blend of 100% premiers crus Chardonnay grapes from recent vintages. Grapes from vineyards Sillery and Brimont (ancestral home of the Ruinart family), and other premier sites. Fine mousse and bubble flow. Citrus and Apple flavors with honeysuckle, toasty notes and lemon rind. Well balanced with nutty character, great mouthfeel on long finish, ending with mineral and yeasty tang. Nice! — 11 days ago

Les Brouillards Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2018

Lyle Fass

Superb tiny berry fruit intensity on a slab of stones. Superb mineral perfume. Beautiful mashed dark and light red flowers. Stunningly elegant and precise. Dizzying. I love Volnay. Palate is structured and so deep and initially a bit closed. Complex, stoney, sappy and superbly concentrated. Fruit is there but has a major mineral grip on it like so many 18 1er Crus at this early stage. Clean, compact and precise but really in need of 5 years. Now while 17 was wide open young this will not be. But what a wine. Amazing palate presence. Incredible fruit. — 14 days ago

"Valmur" Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2014

Alex Lallos

Always a winner and in a vintage like 2014 it is really bright and fresh. I could drink this every day. Definitely a big step up from the 1er crus in terms of texture and complexity — 13 days ago

Domaine Joblot

L'Empreinte Givry 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2016

The 2016 L'Empreinte is the debut cuvée of Joblot's blended Givry premier crus. Wearied by all my bitter experience with buying wines in Malaysia, you can imagine my relief when it poured out bright and purple, and the smell of crushed cassis and spice wafted out of the bottle. In the glass, the nose adds intrigue with smokey, meaty aromas and a nice acetic lift. The wine is velvety, ripe and concentrated on the palate, framed by rather obvious wood still, with chewy tannins and lively acids. Finishes with medium length, dominated by plums and earth. Although it doesn't quite hit the spot for me, this was a solid pinot noir especially after a good number of weeks dry. Excellent value for those who like their Burgundy a little less subtle. — 9 days ago
