This is a very good modern style Italian. The nose is really fragrant, almost Napa like with plenty of dark, sweet fruit blended with lavender, vanilla and light oak. Palate is smooth and rounded with minimal acidity and a nice long slightly sweet and smokey finish, there is also a little licorice in here. Alcohol is on the high side but this is well worth trying, I really enjoyed it. — 7 days ago
The wine producer Poggio dei Gorleri, from the small hamlet Gorleri, is located high above the Ligurian coast near Imperia, called the Ligure di Ponente, Italy. The producers’ focus is predominantly on the Pigato grape, delivering minerally, white fruit, very fresh white wines. This Shalok stands out from the white wines produced. Made of 100% Granaccia/Grenache/Alicante, this wine is bursting with red fruits. Quite dark with flavours of berry/blackberry fruit, some chocolate, some wood, with very smooth tannines. Only 1,122 bottles produced. — 7 days ago
Perfectly round primitivo, a little bit young though, soft and strong — a day ago
2nd wine in Peploes job lot, nothing more to add SIMPLY STUNNING — 2 days ago
Nose has ripe cherry, over-ripe strawberry, stack of new encyclopediae, dry autumn leaves and muddy mint plant.
Palate has spring cherries, (faint) peppermint leaf, old leather, charred San Marzano tomato, barrel notes (not oak) with medium tannins. Not giving up too much on the palate with 2+ hours decanting.
Needs much more air tonight, or years; we have another bottle and it can likely rest for about a decade (2028+). — 6 days ago
Medium-deep ruby to magenta. Outrageously easy drinking, but still rich. — 13 days ago
With each bottle, I enjoy these that much more. This has the crisp character of a seaside wine, but also the power & detail of honeyed peaches. It brings the delight & beautiful, approachable fruit but is wonderfully balanced with fresh acid. One to watch as it comes from 15 year old vines. This bottling will continue to show more and more with each vintage. Beautiful. — 20 days ago
