Hillside Select Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Absolute killer Shafer Hillside Select will rival the 2007 and 2012. Drinking beautifully now. 4+ hours of decanting did help. I like to trying a bottle young. — 6 days ago

Did a vertical at the winery. Couldn’t agree more. And I did that a few years back. The 16 had a generic label on it from the barrel.

Napa Valley Chardonnay 2019

Light straw w/green tint: this usually straddles the line between Old & New World and I think this vintage needs some time to fatten up. Typical toasty buttery lemon verbena on the nose with some tropical guava and melon for good measure. Firm acidic backbone & lighter body gave it an austerity on palate thru finish. — 18 days ago

Over-rated and over-priced but it’s the name and reputation driving this wine. For the price it should be more than “middlin”…not so…has decent balance and flavor but no saving grace from average… — 21 days ago

Always a treat! Bluish-black fruits, just the the right amount of grip, hint of cigar box on the balanced finish. — 6 days ago

Gorgeous earthy tones - not as fruit forward as I was expecting. Refined and showing beautifully. — 18 days ago

$25 at Trader Joe’s. Nice expression of a Stags Leap. Heavy and opulent. Worth the price tag. — a month ago
