Sizzano Red Blend 2015

Really like this mellow Nebbiolo blend. Good with food but stands on its own without having a lingering palate that can happen with with this grape. Could drink a whole bottle after dinner with this, and just might. — 2 years ago

Awesome. Perfect pairing with grilled bone in lamb sirloin, mixed green salad with olives, feta cheese and Brianna’s French vinaigrette, roasted broccoli and Seeds of Change quinoa and brown rice — 6 years ago

Sizzano Nebbiolo Blend 2016

Great vintage, soulful rendition of Nebbiolo, but just know it’s more like a 3 minute Stax records hit, rather than a long play jam of, say, Les Mcann Compared To What. Still, for20$, I’d choose it most days of the week. Some of that burnished leather furniture & forest floor is coming through the Nebbiolo, & so it’s more black fruited & evocative than peppy. Just know it’s a shorter finish. — 7 months ago

Villa Guelpa

Sizzano Nebbiolo 2018

Such a great value. Youthful nose has beautifully pure ripe cherry (fresh and dried) along with lots of wafty crushed stony gravel scents and a lightly feral note of fur. In the mouth the cherry fruit is intense and accompanied by lots of high-toned stony mineral savoriness, but it is very light on its feet. Ends on a pleasantly and slightly bitter cherry note. Tannins are abundant but very soft. Acids are goods but not so much as to lean-out the fruit. — 7 months ago

Riserva Ciada Fara Nebbiolo Blend 2013

Lyle Fass
9.4

Oh man. If the Sizzano is the St. Joseph the Fara is the Côte Rotie. Wow. Insane nose. Honey, roses, so floral. Takes 25 minutes to get crazy. Stunning spice. So pure. Palate is so juicy and deep with such breadth. Big, ripe and juicy tannins. But big. Impactful. So long. Just saps the palate. Truly a fine fine wine. So elegant and nimble yet also has power. This has 15+ years ahead of it. Grand Cru level. Really concentrated. Echoes on the palate. Might be a 9.5. — 4 years ago
