12 yrs young and LOTS of life left to go. Phenolics and acids are in great place. Flavors are tight and narrow...dense and sinewy, but black cherry cola is the simplest sound bite. 1 more bottle to open in the fall of 2023. This is the basic build and not a reserve selection… But Dave Collins did a good job, again :) — 20 hours ago
Another surprising hit from Virginia even if not as impressive as the two Italian whites. Light pink color with good fruits and floral rose notes and balanced acidity on palate. Great food wine again. AA7 deal! — 17 days ago
Nose has bruised pear, warm vanilla, carmel poured on pineapple, sweet yellow apple, ripe pineapple, soaked golden raisin, tangerine peel and spring honeysuckle.
Palate has buttered popcorn, butter poached pear, fresh apricot, chamomile tea, (minor) candle wax, medium acidity, mouth-coating viscosity with a long finish; outstanding. This can hold in proper storage until 2022-24.
Last of our Stolpman stash; we purchased this in November 2012. — 3 days ago
Apple, lemon, peach, blood orange and lemongrass. Electric acidity and good minerality. — 3 days ago
The nose is tobacco & cherry laden. The palate opens with juicy notes of blackberry and cassis, and melts into a finish that “leaves its mark”. The varietals in the F8, at first look, would seem to make a wine that rips ones gums free from their teeth. The brilliance of this wine though is the (somehow) thoroughly plush and even delicate mouthfeel it supplies. Given time to breathe, this is one of the most definitive examples of the saying “shaking hands with a giant wearing mittens” that I’ve come across. — 19 days ago
Slightly funky nose at first and then shifts to more classic Chard aromas. The acidity is backward at first and then it opens up and gets more tension to go along the nice roundness and freshness, pretty good balance and nice wine without being great. 88-89

This is a beautiful build - just CF & PV (as is tradition). But what is challenging ultimately is how to pair this near perfectly clean/precise gem. 1 more bottle to review in 5yrs. — 20 hours ago
Again, brilliant! Far more Chinon/Old World than 99.5% of the CF in the Mid Atlantic. While bit more body than the ‘16, but day 2 & 3 showed how much potential this has in the cellar :) — 16 days ago
