Quinta Do P%c3%b4pa

Quinta do Montalto

Uncondemned Medieval 2019

I have no idea(yet) of the grapes in this.
The label says the vines are up to 140 yrs.
N: Lots of blood, tobacco, saline qualities. Poured blind, one may think an earthy burg that’s young. Some dark berried fruit. Liquorice.
P: Very delicate, much lighter on the palate than the nose would lead. Open for an hour, no tannic grip yet. Lots of woodland flavors. Tempered ( my guess) by an Atlantic clime. Easy , yet 14°
Glad it came home with me.

Quinta do Vale Meão

Tinto Douro Red Blend 2014

Jörgen Lindström Carlvik
9.4

A cooler vintage in the Douro. And for the first time, stems were used during fermentation has created and strict and aromatic version combining rich red berries with spice with and crushed stone flavours. Still tight but showing great promise. 94 p. — 7 years ago

This sounds superb, @Jörgen Lindström Carlvik. Have you tasted earlier vintages?

I've had all vintages made apart from the non official 1999 and 2001, I believe. Unbelievable solid year in, year out. Favs are 2004, 2010 and 2011. Also, for value, their second wine Meandro is a value offering.

Thanks so much, Jorgen. Following on from your notes, I'm interested in tasting this. In my experience, Portuguese wines are also wallet friendly! Thanks again.
