Epesses Chasselas

Fremragende, sprød, rank, mineralsk hvidvin på den lokale Chasselas-drue. Noter af citron, Mandel, abrikos. — 2 months ago

Domaine Maume

Lavaux St. Jacques Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2010

Pale to mid Ruby in colour. Bright red fruits with a sooty stalky earthy note. Barb the gardener thought pansy perfume amongst the forest floor. Earthy savouriness on the medium weight palate with red fruits - red cherry to the fore. Still fresh at 10 years. We both loved it. Even though the Lavaux site is one of the last picked in Gevrey Chambertin ensuring longer hang time and good depth, Jasper Morris MW described it as “fine boned”. A very good Premier Cru from a good vintage. — 5 months ago

@Bill Bender @Ron R I’m sure Ron would be familiar with it being an old Pom.

@Bob McDonald, frankly I’m mildly shocked at Mr Bender’s poor memory. He spent time living in Cambridge. But then those folks would probably refer to dosh as money. You are a disgrace BB!

Too much dosh at Cambridge @Ron R they never mentioned it because they hadn’t earned any of their own at that point

Domaine Armand Rousseau

Lavaux St. Jacques Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Pinot Noir

Medium weight, lots of red fruit, showy. Was offered as an alternative to the Clos de la Roche (I drunk their last bottle on a previous occasion), doesn’t come close. — 9 months ago

The nose is everything from subtle to intoxicating. The fruits are a combination of baked & slightly stewed; blackberries, black sour cherries, black raspberries, black plum, plum, strawberries & haunting blue fruits. Charcoal notes, slightly charred toast, anise to black licorice, black fruit tea, dark fruit cola, dark, mid intensity Asian/Indian spices, alluvial limestone minerals, dry, crushed rocks, wet clay, stones, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and soft vanillin, fresh tobacco notes, leather, barrel shavings, dry underbrush, hints of graphite with dark, red, purple, blue fresh & withering florals.

The body is medium full and simply gorgeous. The mouthfeel is round, sexy and lures you in. Texture is beautifully enticing. The tension, structure, balance and length are ascending to their peak...another 5 years to full peak. The fruits are a combination of baked & slightly stewed; blackberries, black sour cherries, black raspberries, black plum, plum, strawberries, hints of rhubarb, figs, dates characteristics & haunting blue fruits. Charcoal notes, slightly charred toast, anise to black licorice, black fruit tea, dark fruit cola, dark, mid intensity Asian/Indian spices, alluvial limestone & sandstone minerals, dry, crushed rocks, wet clay, stones, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and soft vanillin, fresh tobacco notes, leather, barrel shavings, dry underbrush, hints of graphite with bright, dark, red, purple, blue fresh & withering florals. The acidity is round, fresh, lively and like a warm spring. The finish is; elegant, extremely well balanced, gorgeous and persists like a long tango dance. Simply beautiful in every way. Heady wine.

Hard to believe I paid right around $35 for this upon release.

Lavaux St. Jacques Cuvée Unique Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2015

A beautiful bottle from this terrific vineyard. Showing both elegance and richness that just floats on the palate. Both black and red fruits, smoked bacon, minerals and hints of earth. Finishes with excellent length and intensity. — 7 months ago
