I was not that familiar with this varietal and so thought I would wiki for all interested: “Trousseau or Trousseau Noir, also known as Bastardo and Merenzao, is an old variety of red wine grape originating in eastern France. It is grown in small amounts in many parts of Western Europe; the largest plantations are today found in Portugal, where most famously it is used in port wine. It makes deep cherry red wines with high alcohol and high, sour candy acidity, and flavours of red berry fruits, often complemented - depending on production - by a jerky nose and an organic, mossy minerality.” — 4 days ago
I’m not really a bourbon guy, but I’ve tried most of the ‘greats’. This was a very generous gift from a friend. I’ve had it before, and this was just as epic. It’s a stunning bourbon. Screw your Pappy’s, this is the real deal. There’s roses and floral notes at the start. A freshness you really don’t expect given the intensity of the alcohol (waaaay overproof) then an intensity of taste on the midpalate with all the caramel, and depth you’d expect of a great bourbon, but loads of complex secondary stuff. It’s a trip on the palate with a midpalate would be brutal in other hands given the alcohol level, but here it really sings. I’m a wine guy. This is incredible once you get over the shock of the alcohol. If you only splurge on one bourbon, for me, this is the one. — 9 days ago

Applewood, poached pear, maple syrup and pecans with black lime, ginger lemon-honey, orange bitters, rosemary, baked sweet potatoes oozing créme fraîche, brown sugar and caramel. It’s a noseful! Hot, herbaceous mouthful on the coat. Warm maduro-caramel turns noir in the slanted chiaroscuros of toffee and brittle, respectively. Big lemon citrus with orange zest, banana bread, sage, allspice, mace, cedar, pipe tobacco puff, black raisin, with a svelte acid streak running the length of a generous satin mouthfeel. Impossible value here. Drank 9\20\20. Nice with a bacon cheeseburger.
Medium nose of black and blue fruits with some spice and a bit of herbaceousness as well. Big, but balanced with cassis, blueberry, and a bit of spice all backed by medium plus tannins. Long finish and great balance. I can't think of too many good cabs for under $20, and this one delivers for closer to $10. Incredible value.

One of my favorite breweries in the south. I know, I know, Sweetwater in Atlanta’s great and all, but Crooked Can outta Orlando is something else.
Their seasonal Oktoberfest pictured on the right hits all the right Autumn notes.
Purple Cow to the left of that has got nice açaí, blueberry, and licorice notes.
Down the line, the Pia Kawa is a perfect tart pineapple sipper.
Finally, the Mellow Step, probably the favorite of the flight, has got the perfect amount of hops balanced with a saltwater taffy mango afternote.

This stuff is perfect to be canned and sold to the masses for beach day gallops and picnic frolics.
Intense, supercharged, lychee on Fast & The Furious NOS. Ludacris and The Rock give their blessings on this whip of a drink. Okay, too much.
But this is such a great way to use the byproduct that would normally go to waste and it’s tasty and extremely drinkable.

Color of burgundy with hue of bloody grapefruit, quite clear and lighter compared to traditional Shiraz. Nose of coffee, aldehyde, cherry, a bit raspberry, cigar box, and ripe grapes. Taste of ample acidity plus sweetness form strawberry, a bit zesty, a bit salty indeed, medicinal syrup, and some more grapes. Aftertaste shows more zest, oak, and peppery note.
