October 24, 2020. Dinner w/ Jack D, he brought the wine. 85% Sangiovese, 15% Malvasia Nero. Decant as it opens up beautifully. Black cherry & herbs. Beautiful aroma. Smooth. — 4 years ago
Fantastic CA interpretation of sicily’s juicyfruit. The cherry is there, but A grittier, dusty spaghetti western of a nero d, badass but limber enough to spring into action. Nice lively acid in the 2018. Fox hill vienyards, 30 some yr old. Why isn’t all of CA planted w the nero d?! — 4 years ago

Sue Bell has used all Italian varietals, quite aromatic at that, to make this very tasty Rosato, hence the term. Including the southern Sicilian red Nero d”Avola, Barbera, and Pinot Grigio. Aromas of strawberry, red cherry and thistle. Very smashable. Store in cellar till you run out and need another case. — 2 years ago
Very drinkable red with dark fruit notes with a bit of tannin — 4 years ago

Christmas Day Lunch. I noticed one of the courses was Leg of Lamb and this wine was chosen from the Wine List with that dish in mind. Black and Red cherries with an earthy savouriness. This Sicilian variety has found a second home at Heathcote in Victoria - the terroir and conditions generally, suit Nero perfectly. Medium to full bodied with a rich texture. Heathcote is better known as the home of rich, full bodied earthy Shiraz. — 4 months ago
