Gran Vino Pazo Barrantes Rías Baixas Albariño 2020

Bright lemon color with stone and tropical fruit aromas and floral scents. On the palate flavors of pear, apples and peaches with lemon citrus and chalky notes. Well balanced with pleasant lively acidity, long finish ending with mineral, citrus and wet stone nuances. Very nice! — 3 days ago

Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2011

Still youthful and sassy, both elegant and powerful. Time will balance this nectar and will drink well for another 20 years. Blend dominated by tempraniilo (85%) . Thus Ygay is on a roll! — 6 months ago

A bit subdued, but well-made exhibiting a classic old school Rioja profile. Cherry type notes are balanced by savory characteristics of herbs, spices, and vanilla. — 4 years ago

Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2009

Blend of Tempranillo with 19% Mazuelo (Cariñena), unusually high, each aged separately for 26 months (Temp-American / Mazuelo-French), pronounced bouquet of berry fruits with complex spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry, cherry and plum flavors, well balanced, with pepper, cinnamon and slight tobacco. Long finish, tight tannins ending with fruit and an earthy mineral character. Outstanding, will age for years and will improve in the bottle! — 2 years ago

Capellanía Blanco Rioja Viura

Straw color with peach, and pear aromas. On the pallet it is racy with good acidity and a “ying-yang” counterbalance of sweet honeydew melon with a decent finish tied to hints of dry almonds. Bold, full bodied white Rioja; to my surprise it has aged pretty well. It’s a tasting well worth the price of exploration. — 4 years ago

Finca Ygay Limited Edition Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2009

I thought this was a very good wine. Deep purple in colour with a very pronounced intensity on the nose. Strong cooked red fruits (strawberry, cherry) as well as vanilla and cedar from oak coupled with leather and savoury notes from age. Wonderful nose. The pallet doesn't disappoint with Medium (+) alcohol, high yet smooth tannins, medium (+) acid, full bodied with a very long finish. Great wine, could even age it a little longer. — 7 years ago
