Poured through a Venturi into a decanter prior to service. For a grape that has traditionally been used to make less-than-serious fortified wines, this was quite a serious Mavrodaphne indeed. From ungrafted vines, the 2020 “Mov” pours purple in color. A touch reticent early, this is developing and only beginners to open after about 30min after which it revealed it’s layered red and dark fruits, earth, cocoa, purple flowers, minerals and soft baking spices. Structure was medium+. Balanced and paired well with our beef and grilled eggplant. Only 800 bottles produced. — 6 months ago

Reminds me some really good condrieu at a fraction of the price!! — 2 years ago
Half of us loved this, the other half not so much. Count me in the first group. Pours a deep yellow, a bit cloudy. Quite rich yet also tense and tight, lemon focused with some yeasty grip. Some orchard fruit shows with time. This has some heft, with a grippy, yeasty finish. Needed a decant. Super complex. Striking and unique. Need more... — 3 years ago

Flint like scent. Water like. Fresh, mineral salty, lemon and green apple. 3 min later, feel rich. Good match with seafood and Japanese seafood food as well. Gentilini Robola of Cephalonia Wild Paths 19 @3700, Academy D JH, 240127-240203 — 2 months ago
