Okay...I’m a believer! Wow, this wine exceeded all expectations. Medium gold in the glass, just enough acidity to keep things interesting, and on the downslope for its effervescence. But the swirl of fruit flavors was intoxicating... fig, persimmon, kiwi, ripe golden pineapple and a melange of citrus. Fun! — 4 days ago
Perfect Napa Cab. Aromatically romances you with kisses of milk chocolate decadence and blackberry pie. Then brings your palate to its knees upon first kiss that is equally complex in this marriage of dessert flavors and dark berry melange. Would not change a thing! The finish culminates in a glorious crescendo of harmonious tannins and juice, and lingers delicately in the aftermath of climax. Nose reminiscent of La Morra; muscular palate more like a Gevrey-Chambertin. A bit hot on the finish. Nice but a bit disjointed and suffers coming up to room temp over time. — 9 days ago
Ya...Ya..Ya... With a bowl of picholines!
Consistently one of the finest Finos.

Wow. Lustrous amber hue. Melange of apricot, raw almond, orange blossom and orange oil, honey, damp leaves and spices. As it opens baked apples and apple pits emerge, followed by an expansive floral perfume. Bracing tannins on the finish and this is stunning now but still feels young(!), despite the years. So much energy. Seamless wine. — 2 months ago
A staining dark burgundy with ruby highlights and a wide brim. Darkness abounds on the nose with blackberries and stewed plums initially. Toasted oak, slight vanilla, and boysenberry. New leather brings another dimension to this wine. You really should spend some time just smelling this. It’s so clean and just pretty.
A Right Bank blend with mostly Merlot from Stags Leap can be a thing of beauty and this certainly is. I mention oak but this is not over oaked. So much restraint is used here. This isn’t huge and ridiculous and flabby. It eschews all that in favor of a studious and clean wine that focuses more on purity of fruit and proper balance. Not over extracted at all, but rather lush and a bit sensuous.
More leather showing on the palate, along with smoked tobacco and blackberries. Pine nuts, a touch of dried grass and dark chocolate. This has years to go but is drinking just fine right now. A gorgeous little thing. — 24 days ago
Terrific vintage for this wine. Nose of deep cherries. Mid season, black and sour. A real melange. Amazing clarity and shape to the nose. So dazzling in its vividness and compactness. Amazing minerality. Just so pointed and refined. A sense of refinement you don’t see often in Girard wines or this Cru. Awesome texture and juiciness. Black cherry, such purity, balance and compactness. Ripe and deep tannins and just perfect fruit. Like perfect ripeness and backed up by great energy and minerality. This is very impressive. There is great sap and such vivid black cherry fruit. Will age for a decade at least. So long. Compact. Masterful. — 25 days ago
