At the winery. Soft up front with chocolate and cherries. Smooth dry but long finish. Long finish on the tongue. — 6 years ago
Big captivating aromas of roast beef with horse sweat and saddle nose. Spice and iron compounds the palate. I was concerned it might be past it’s prime at age 26 but fine structure and black cherry fruit is still at the fore. That said, time to drink up. — 2 years ago

Purchased at the winery during visit to Tuscany in 2010. IGT wine is Sangiovese-dominated with 10% Colorino del Valdarno (gives the blend a darker, inkier color). Wine also has some brick orange tones showing its age. Unfortunately, wine was tasted past its prime. Wine tasted oxidized with flavors of dried raisins, tobacco and some iron. I had tasted another bottle of this wine several years ago when the fruit was more lively and recall that it was an enjoyable Sangiovese blend. — 5 years ago
Popped and poured; consumed over two days. My second time enjoying the 1995 Gran Reserva (the most recent release from LdH). The wine pours garnet with a translucent core accompanied by some fine sediment and a slightly watery rim. Medium viscosity. On the nose, high intensity and seems to have some VA. There’s also a little bit of the funk too. Highly perfumed with cherry, red rope licorice, balsamic, cumin, horse saddle, dill, and iron rich earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium++ acid. Tart cherries and again with the red rope licorice. Also, there are blackberries and plums, buzz buttons, iron, tomato, leather, olives and exotic spices. Long, savory finish. Despite being 26 years from vintage, the wine comes across super bright and fresh. Just lovely. — 2 years ago
Brilliant!! — 4 years ago
First winery on day two in Sonoma was Donelan Family Wines in Santa Rosa with Meredith. First red up was the Two Brothers Pinot Noir which comes from four separate vineyards in Sonoma County; 41% from Steiner Ranch, 26% from Walker Vine Hill, 21% from Devoto and 12% from Perli. Namesake is for the two sons, Tripp and Cushing. Aged for 18 months in 17% new French oak. 1,630 cases produced.
Medium garnet red with some ruby in the core. A touch of greenery on the nose with some twigs and strawberries. A touch of tobacco and cedar too. Medium acidity (6.5/10) with a light plus to medium body. Layered palate with notes of cinnamon, violet, white pepper, plums and a touch of mushrooms. Medium plus finish with a little bit of iron coming through. Drink till 2021.
