The label says smooth tanins and that captures it. There is enough tanins and they are balanced by very subtle fruits and spices. — 18 hours ago
A blend of Cab Sauv, Merlot and Syrah. Deep Ruby with aromas of black and red fruits and floral spice aromas. On the palate black cherry and blackberry flavors with licorice, espresso and sweet oak spice. Smooth and refined tannins, long ending with fruit and sweet earthy tones. Consistent quality and good value. Had 2 bottles in the last month, they are great. — 10 days ago
We had this right after the 2018 Strawberry Hills grenache. It was very good, but we thought the grenache was much better. Not sure if our palates were saturated, if the wine is in a bit of a dumb phase, or if it’s on the downslope, but this didn’t have the depth that I was expecting from this one. Still a terrific wine, though, so the streak continues of me never having a wine from Paul Lato that I have not enjoyed! — 6 days ago
Revisiting one of last years true revelations the 2017 Tenuta di Carleone Il Guercio, which at my very first encounter became a new favourit.
Sangiovese in its purest of forms, so vivid, so transparent yet so unique.
A highly defined nose of crushed, fresh but ripe red berries, followed by lavender and a perfumed incense character over a pronounced gravely carpet. Stunning texture on the palate with superfine but ever present tannins and a piercing acidity that carries the fruit through a long finish. A mesmerizing wine where there is a high change of getting lost in the glass. Paired with braised pork shoulder and tomato jus. — 17 days ago
