Medium garnet wide watery rim . No oxidation whatsoever , really quite floral and enticing on the nose , dried strawberry raspberry fruits , truffle , spiced old wood notes . On the palate lovely freshness and elegance with those red fruit, truffle and spiced strawberry, earl grey tea notes . Good length , just slightly drying on the finish now , apart from that this wine really does show well . Very elegant and precise . The 1999 Latour has a dark garnet color with little aging on the rim. The nose is closed initially and demands coaxing, eventually revealing blackberry, cedar and light pencil-shaving aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannins, displaying some secondary notes of clove, white pepper and a distinct earthiness that comes through on the finish. [Post-script: this is one of the few vintages I identified correctly!] Tasted blind from double magnum at a 20-year retrospective at the château. (Neal Martin, Vinous, February 2024)

Medium ruby with wide garnet rim . On the nose quite red fruit focused with earthy , sous bois and truffle notes , grafite coffee and cedar . On the palate medium bodied with a mix of red and dark fruit, soy , tobacco , iron filings and cedar. Quite good acidity , with fine tannin , balanced alcohol . Dark garnet purple. Funkily inviting nose of brambly montmorency cherry, dark cranberry, and currant (red & black). Echoed on the medium full palate which adds dark raspberry and a hint of patent leather. All supported by medium plus acidity and wrapped in velvety medium plus tannins. Finish is long and continues the entire palate along with those tannins. Rustic without the earth best describes this affordable and food-friendly Lebanese red. Rustic-inspired (I chose shepherd's pie) or Mediterranean fare will naturally pair. Drink now through 2030. — 3 months ago

On the nose: perfumed notes of stewed plum, currants, old leather, cigar box, smoked meat, truffles, and touch of mint. Taste: silky, exquisite wine with red cherry/plum, old leather, dusty chiseled granite, bitter chocolate, cedar, and a dry graphite/coffee long finish. YUM! On the palate juicy spiced sweet red fruits with those liquorice notes and dried herbs. Good balancing acidity and velvety but grippy tannins and slightly noticeable alcohol.
