Similar to my previous note: this is still an infant and needs to breathe - tons of depth here just needs time & patience — 10 months ago

Ragis Rosso Colli di Salerno IGT Aglianico Piedirosso

The last bottle remaining from our 2016 visit to southern Italy. Sentimental memories flood back - wishing we were soaking up the view from the winery, enjoying the company of friends while feasting on home cooked dishes — 4 years ago

Montevetrano di Silvia Imparato 2015

Three glasses that are a humble reminder that the drinker plays a role. Glass 1 is heavily aerated and I had a bite of spinach 2-3 bites ago, shows thin, harsh tannins and is borderline undrinkable. Glass 2 is not aerated, shows toasty wood, dark fruit, cassis, like a modern super-campanian well made but without too much tipicity. Glass 3 finally reveals some Aglianico character: muscular, herbal, earthy with the slightest touch of barnyard brett and a mint-tarragon finish signaling ripe pyrozines. Tannins are slightly more approachable now, best of the three. Short-lived bottle and still not a fan of the cab elements, but undeniably well made — 4 months ago

Quartara Giffoni Valle Piana Colli di Salerno Fiano 2018

Crazy nose. Hints of dried apricots. Yellow flowers. Rich. Deep.

Palate is stunning. Elegantly rich. Dried apricots. Mineral. Saturating. Salty a bit. Silky. Hints of honey. Some glycerol.

Long finish.

Really a unique wine. Almost hints of very good sherry notes but in a good way.

This is a wine you want a case of in the cellar.

Wow. Nose of licorice and spice. Lovely balanced fruity licoricey aglianico. Juicy. Crazy lingering licorice finish. Amazing for their second red. ... terrific sweet licorice fruit going on ... delicious. ... a lovely Grippiness. ... a hint of chocolate. — 5 years ago
