This is now the 26th edition of this great bottling by Woodward Canyon. One of the iconic Cabernet wines made in Washington state, it was an incredible experience last summer to taste through all of the vintages (minus one) of this glorious wine. The new, 2017 edition is a gorgeous new wine that has a long life ahead of it. Layers of toasty oak mingle with Black Forest Cake, black tea and exotic spices on this expressive nose. The palate is full-bodied and wonderfully textured. Creme de cassis, anise, wild blackberry cobbler and shades of milk chocolate all come together on the palate. With great length and weight, the 2017 ‘Artist Series’ Cabernet Sauvignon will cellar well for decades to come. Drink 2020-2035- 93 — 4 years ago
(Release Spring 2020) The 2015 Corliss Syrah is a seriously good effort from a somewhat challenging vintage for red wines in Washington State. Aged in French oak puncheons (35%) for 26 months prior to bottling, this wine exudes class. On the nose this takes on intense blue and dark fruit aromatics with exotic spices and chocolate that round out this expressive profile. The palate shows a soft, pillowy texture, engaging ripe dark berries, mocha, tar and roasted dates that combine with a good sense of freshness. This is showing marvelously at this stage and will cellar well for another decade or more. Drink 2020-2029- 93 — 5 years ago
2018 vintage.
Crisp, fresh, mixed apple and pear with lime skin aromas.
A round mouth feel with yellow fruit, Asian apple, grapefruit and ginger with a leesy and citrus finish.
A nice job balancing between roundness and acidity.
