Château Lestage Simon

Château Lestage

Cru Bourgeois Listrac-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend

2018 vintage. This historical estate has been in the hands of the Chanfreau family for over 50 years. They also own Château Fonréaud in Listrac and 2 Moulis estates (Châteaux Caroline and Chemin Royal). Lestage is the only Listrac granted Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in the 2020 classification. The 2018 vintage is a blend of 62% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot. The nose is a bit oaky at first, but the wine starts to truly shine after an hour in the glass, so take your time or decant. Cherries, cassis and cedar wood in the nose. The fruit is concentrated and layered, embedded in a powerful tannic structure with very good balancing acidity. While the warmth of the vintage is unmistakable, there is no sign of jamminess. Impressively long finish too. Incredible value at 11,90 euros. If you open this in 7 or 8 years you will curse yourself that you didn't buy more. Kudos to the owners and consulting enologist Antoine Medeville. Abv. 14,5 %. — a month ago

Château Caroline

Cru Bourgeois Moulis en Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend

2016 vintage. Owned by the Chanfreau family (also Lestage and Fonréaud in Listrac). A blend of Merlot (65%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (35%). Still a bit on the oaky side, but the wine handles it well. The red fruit is juicy and fresh, the tannins ripe and the wine has elegance. Wait a few years until it fully absorbs the oak or decant if you drink it now. — 18 days ago

Cabernet Franc

Beautiful and unique. Reminds me of a mencia from biezro. -clean medium bodied, good acidity, dark red fruit of wet hickory smoke and distinctive black pepper spice and light roast. Great buy. — a month ago

Chaos Cahors Red Blend

It’s good in terms of character, nice balance, but it’s not as substantial as it should be, it could’ve more depth and body. Sort of disappears a little too soon. At the same time I did enjoy it. Def worth a try — 2 months ago

Akatcha Bourgogne Pinot Beurot

Outstanding white Pinot Beurot by Bize (!) skin contact gives it its color. This is the kind of “natural” wine that I like. I’ll skip the hipster wines, thank you. Alice Feiring club selection. — a month ago

Yes, what’s a “hipster wine”? I’d like to avoid them if I can 😄
